Bangalore, Apr 16: It is learnt that arrangements are being made to appoint an IAS officer of North Indian origin as the secretary of the state governor, H R Bharadwaj. It may be recalled, that Sharada Subramaniam, who hitherto functioned as the Governor’s secretary, has been sent on leave, as the Governor had lost trust on her.
Out of the five officials who were sent on leave, the post of the Governor’s secretary is most sensitive and important, as the secretaries have to serve as the trusted lieutenants of the Governor. The state government has already received instructions from the Governor to make appointments to these posts at the earliest. The Governor has also held discussions with the chief secretary of Karnataka, S V Ranganath, and principal secretary to the Chief Minister, I S N Prasad.
The officials have been asked to submit a list of eligible IAS officers for the post. It is gathered that submission of the list will be a mere formality, and that an IAS officer of North India origin, who is stated to be a loyalist of the Congress Party, is all set to get the Governor’s nod.
