Mangaluru, Sep 19: "Loopholes in our education system have caused social distance among people. Without proper dissemination of knowledge and appropriate use of the human resource, over-dominance of science is not a good sign for the future," opined Karnataka Folklore University former vice-chancellor, Professor Chinnappa Gowda.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest of the 152nd Founders’ Day celebrations at University College Mangaluru here on Saturday, he said that the use of resources should be prioritized according to the need. With the implementation of the New Education Policy-2019, there may be positive changes in the next decade, he hoped.



Presiding over the event, Mangalore University vice-chancellor Professor P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said that there is no need to doubt the proper implementation of the New Education policy. The vice-chancellor inaugurated the new main gate of the college on the occasion. A book on a two-day national conference organized by the PG studies in economics was released by the dignitaries.

Old students’ association president, Col Sharath Bhandary, Mangalore University Syndicate board member Ravichandra was present on the dais. Student association deputy director Dr A Harish welcomed the guest. Political Science HoD, Dr Latha A Pandith and Sanskrit HoD, Dr Kumara Subrahmanya Bhat mastered the ceremony.


Talents felicitated

Talents of the college were felicitated on the occasion of Foundation Day celebrations. The tenth rank holder in BSc (2018-19), Sharanya D K, Pavan Kumar Acharya who won Dr M Veerappa Moily for scoring highest marks in economics, Rakshitha, the first rank holder in Hindi MA, and Dr Vinaya Poornima S, who secured the second rank in Yogic Science were felicitated on the occasion.
