Udupi, Aug 28: Udupi district Congress under the leadership of district Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka state governor through Udupi deputy commissioner urging to postpone the proposed JEE and NEET examinations by the central government.
The memorandum stated that it is a foolish decision to hold the examinations when Covid-19 pandemic is rampant in the country. “Travel of students from one place to another when the pandemic is spreading is difficult due to the unavailability of vehicles. It is difficult to find accommodations also. Therefore, students and the parents will be facing mental tension,” Congress stated.
“All the chief ministers have opposed the examinations at this juncture when INC president Sonia Gandhi took up the matter during the opposition party chief minister’s virtual meeting. They have also decided to question the move in the Supreme Court. Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi has also urged to postpone the examinations considering the well being of the students. Students are also suffering due to floods in the country,” they stated.
