Mangaluru, Aug 24: A 30-hour online certificate course on 'Crafting Upskills for Students: From Evidence to Action' was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce of St Agnes College (Autonomous) from August 7 to August 21.
The inaugural programme started with a short prayer. Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes Institutions wished the organizers and participants all the best. Sr Dr M Vinora AC, coordinator of PG Studies of St Agnes College (Autonomous) explained the importance of the course in the present circumstances and the benefit the students would receive after completion of the course. Dolan C Banerjee, HOD PG Department of Commerce and course coordinator moderated all the sessions.
As the new normal had pushed everybody towards the online platform, the whole course was designed keeping in mind the present scenario and an attempt to give the students knowledge on different skills which surely would help them succeed in their forthcoming life. Over 104 students from UG and PG from different states enrolled for the course. A wide variety of topics were covered by different resource persons from diversified professional fields. Every session concluded with a set of questions related to the topic discussed through the Google form link.
The resource persons for this course are as follows:
On August 7, Teresa Rodriges, retired head of Cluny Convent High School, Malleswaram pondered on building proficiencies in literary skills.
On August 8, Piya Dasgupta, head of Internal Communications spoke about the power of listening followed by Linus Chettiar who voiced on corporate communication skills.
On August 9, Anirban Banerjee, project manager addressed the session on managing projects.
On August 10, Dr Yathish Kumar, associate professor of University College, Mangaluru highlighted on 'Insights on Entrepreneurial Skills'.
On August 11, Hisrar Tallani, corporate head and founder, Hisrar Events and Celebrations elaborated on 'Unleashing Potentials'.
On August 12, Dr Sharan Kumar Shetty, motivational speaker detailed the session on 'Networking Skills- The Power Impact to Unleash one’s potential'.
On August 13, Dr Catherine Nirmala associate professor of St Agnes PG department of Commerce spoke on 'Crafting your Spiritual Quotient' followed by Bianca Shriyan on Excel tips to survive incorporate.
On August 14, Kishore Tejeswi, a creative consultant expressed his thoughts on language and communication in advertising and creative design.
On August 15, Nairita Bhattacharyya, associate HR of Talent Acquisition emphasized on 'Solving initial hiccups while stepping into Corporate World' followed by Jayalakshhmi Pailoor, key accountant manager of Sales and Business Development division delivered a talk on 'Furbishing workplace interpersonal relationship skills'.
On August 16 Dr Dhananjay Avasarikar, professor of Suryadatta Institute of Management and Mass Communication, Pune spoke on 'Corporate Behavioural skills'.
On August 17, Professor Gerard Dsouza, Soft skill specialist and trainer pondered on 'Reinvent Yourself'
On August 18 Michael Andrade, director of Lykora Consulting Services Pvt Ltd Mangaluru, highlighted on 'Negotiation and Cross-Functional Skills for an evolving Corporate World'.
On August 19 Moushumi Maradia, senior associate of Talent and Performance Management highlighted on 'Developing Goal Methodology: First step to achieve success' followed by Laxmi Shenoy, entrepreneur and foodpreneur who initiated a topic on 'Learn and Earn through Social Media'.
On August 20 Yvonil Dsouza of Investment Services Professional spoke on 'Personal Investment Planning- Equity & Stock Market' followed by Tony Castelino, company secretary, Raheja Group of Companies who emphasized 'Technical analysis of Stocks'.
On August 21 Bikram Mishra, chief Human Resource officer, Asirvad Microfinance Limited elaborated on a 'Journey from Critical Thinking to Design Thinking'.
All the participants thanked the organizers and felt it would help them to nurture their respective future and suggested more online input sessions of the same kind. E- certificates were issued to all the participants.
