Kundapur, Aug 22: Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated in the most subtle manner this year due to the corona pandemic. Even though a large number of devotees visited the historic Ganapathi temple at Anegudde, only a visit to the deity was permitted.
Devotees received Darshan of Ganapathi deity from 5 am. Sanitizing, thermal scanning and wearing of masks was mandatory as per the regulations of the district administration before the entry of devotees. Devotees entered in a disciplined manner maintaining social distance.
Trustee by parentage, Suryanarayana Upadhyaya said that the lives of the people are filled by confusion now due to coronavirus. “The economy has faced a setback. We are praying that the country may be free from corona soon and come back to normalcy giving opportunities to devotees to serve the deity.”
“About ten thousand devotees received the darshan of the deity on Saturday. They are allowed to visit the deity according to the guidelines of the district administration,” he said.
Former MLA Jeevaraj, K Gopala Poojary, leader of fishermen, Yashpal Suvarna and others visited the deity.
