Mangaluru, Aug 18: Akhila Bharatha Sahitya Parishat district unit has scheduled on August 29 essay competitions in Kannada on all taluk levels in the district on the eve of the day of Vachanas.

The competitions are held in two divisions. Students of 8th, 9th and 10th standards have to write essays on the subject ‘Nanna Nechine Sharana/Sharane’ (my favourite Vachana poet) not exceeding three pages. The second division is for students above SSLC, degree, post-graduation or the public on the subject ‘Vachanagalalli Jeevana Maulyagalu and Anustana’ (human values in Vachanas and their implementation) within four pages.

The winners will be awarded first, second and third prizes on taluk level and subsequently on district level on their basis.

Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded in the programme at Shakthi Residential School on August 29.
