Mangaluru: Manipal School conducts online public speaking session

Mangaluru, Aug 17: Manipal School, Mangalore is committed to providing an exceptional learning experience to the students in the online mode as well. As a part of the personality development programme, an online session on Public Speaking was held on August 5 for the students of Grade X. All students participated in an hour long session conducted by Rajina Dinesh, a well-known master of ceremonies and soft skills trainer. She has won the Best Master of Ceremonies Award in the District in the year 1997 and the Best Leadership Trainer Award in the year 1998. She has also won The Best Orator Award at the All India Lioness conference held at Cochin in 2016. She is currently teaching English at various colleges across Mangaluru.

Soha Salman, student of Grade X, sounded the note of welcome. Principal Anuradha Shivaram, and senior teachers were present in the session.

Rajina Dinesh hit the bulls’ eye when she posed the ice breaker question to the students. She asked them how they felt when they had to deliver a speech and most students said that they were usually very nervous. Rajina Dinesh said that the best way to overcome this is by preparation. She said one should have the desire to speak well and practice incessantly. The resource person offered a lot of tips to students on how they should begin their talk and how to end it.

The session ended by Rajina giving a task to the students. They were asked to make an advertisement on the product displayed. This challenge gave the students an opportunity to think creatively and present without any fear of public speaking.

At the end of the session, Rakshith Bediguthu, the school captain thanked Rajina Dinesh profusely for guiding the students on the nuances of public speaking.

Siya Shetty a student of Grade X said, “The session was very informative; it gave me tips about public speaking that I did not really know of Rajina explained everything so well that we could easily apply it all during the activity and she was so engaging throughout the session that it was never boring, always wanted to know what she had to say next. Overall it was a great and very informative session.”
