Mangalore, Mar 19: A gathering of friends of St Aloysius College, Mangalore, was held on at AIMIT, the Beeri Campus for Management and Information Technology on Tuesday March 16. Over fifty guests were present at the gathering.
Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT, welcomed the gathering and did a power point presentation on the growth of St Aloysius College during the past fifteen years. He spoke about the growth of the college since the centenary year back in 1981.
He said that the rapid growth of the Institute made it necessary to put up infra-structure which resulted in the magnificent IT Centre which was inaugurated by Dr A P J AbdulKalam, the President of India in 2003. Further growth of the college made it necessary to branch out to a new campus since the infra-structure at the old location was not adequate enough to train the best leaders for the industry.
Hence three years back a new plot was bought at Beeri, Kotekar, in view of building the new campus with world class facilities for the Management and IT students of St Aloysius College. He added that the dream of Jesuit management is to establish a world class management Institution, offering best education and train young boys and girls to be world players. The vision for this Institute is to become one of the best ten in India within next five years.
Winston D’Souza , Dr Derek Lobo and Gerard Colaco also spoke on the occasion.
