Mangaluru, Aug 8: The department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), here, had organized an online certificate course on Trends in Stock Market from July 13 to July 31 for 30 hours. The course was open to all the UG and PG students of the college and for students of various other colleges.
The course was introduced to teach the participants about investing in stock markets and to analyze the various factors influencing the stock prices. 120 students were the beneficiaries.

Anitha, assistant professor, department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous) explained the various terms used in the stock market.
Elston Neil Menezes worked with HCL Capital Market, Simplus Financial Consultancy, Franklin Templeton Mutual Funds and HDFC Mutual Funds. He is an entrepreneur for the last four years as a Personal Investment Services professional. He has work experience of more than 12 years in this industry. He explained to the students about the working of the stock market, how to analyze a company before investing and gave a brief description of Mutual Funds.
Roshni Yashwanth, assistant professor, Department of Commerce, Government First Grade College, Haleyangadi currently pursues PhD at Mangalore University. She has teaching experience for more than 19 years and she has also co-authored a book in financial management. Her session was interesting as she spoke about diversified investment and the need for maintaining the right portfolio.
Mahammad Thauseef P, assistant professor, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) who has a teaching experience of four years. He conducted sessions for three days explaining the various instruments available in the stock market, their functions and the risk factors. He also suggested some apps and explained their features and motivated the students to invest in stocks after analyzing them thoroughly.
The course included an assignment where the students had to observe the stock market and a company of their choice daily. The certificate course was coordinated by Sr Clera Rodrigues, assistant professor, Department of Commerce, St Agnes College.
The certificate course was appreciated by all the students who were satisfied with all the sessions. The students received e-certificates after submitting their assignments.
