Kasargod, Aug 5: Shuddering over the likelihood of contracting coronavirus infection, a man jumped into a pond and gave up his life. This incident happened on the night of Monday August 3.
Subrahmanya (50), son of Narayana Bhat from Bedagam Manimoole Talppalla, committed suicide after everyone else at his home went to bed on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, his family members found that Subrahmanya had gone missing. After a search, they found his body in a pond near his home. The police who undertook search, found a letter left behind by Subrahmanya in which he said he had decided to commit suicide, having been overtaken by the fear of getting infected with coronavirus.
The inquest of the body was performed under the leadership of Bedagam police sub-inspector K Muralidhar. A case has been registered, and investigation has been undertaken.
