Bengaluru: Government furnishes current positions of Covid beds to high court

Bengaluru, Jul 27: The state government has furnished to the state high court the details of isolation beds available in Karnataka in specified district Covid hospitals, identified Covid health centres, and Covid care centres.

This information was provided to the division bench of the high court headed by Chief Justice A S Oka, which has been hearing a number of public interest litigations filed relating to COVID-19 management.

The government said that it has 8,494 isolation beds in 37 district Covid hospitals out of which 5,031 have been earmarked for confirmed Covid cases and 34,763 for suspected cases. As many as 4,174 beds with oxygen facilities are included in them, 982 are intensive care unit beds, and 525 are ventilator beds, it added.


Karnataka high court

There are 36,293 isolation beds in district corona hospital centres out of which 12,529 are meant for confirmed coronavirus cases. 23,767 are earmarked for suspected cases. Out of total beds, 4,982 are equipped with oxygen facility, 1,976 are intensive care unit beds, and 979 are ventilator beds, it said.

"Covid care centres have 1,06,292 isolation beds. As many as 25,805 among them are for confirmed cases, and 82,383 are meant for suspected cases," it stated.

The bench recorded these details and adjourned the case after commenting that these things will be verified during the next hearing.

    Simple. This virus, being highly contagious yet hardly fatal, has already been contracted by hundreds of millions of people, many of whom don't even know that they have it or have had it in the recent past.

    While the graph of the positive cases is shooting up, the death numbers graph is not going up. Recovery rates are fantastic. It's the mads hysteria that has damaged the fabric of society and devastated the economy.
