Udupi, Jul 23: Brahmavar station police have arrested a robber and recovered a mobile that he had stolen from a woman.
Raksha, the victim of the robbery was on her way to work on May 27 at 8.45 am speaking on her mobile at the curve of the residence of Panduranga Prabhu, Kallabettu, Brahmavar. As she reached the Brahmavar market, two strangers on a motorbike approached her from behind and snatched her mobile from her hand. Following this, Raksha had lodged a complaint of the robbery at Brahmavar police station.
Udyavar market resident Mohammed Fahad and Sampige Nagar Kampanabettu resident were the two accused in this case. Among them, Mohammed Fahad has a case of robbery at Manipal police station, for the illegal sale of ganja at Malpe police station and a case for consumption of ganja at Kaup police station pending against him. He is said to be a seasoned thief. Police personnel have arrested the duo on July 23 and recovered a Redmi mobile and a pulsar bike worth Rs 70,000 from them.
Brahmavar circle police inspector Anant Padmanabha, Brahmavar police station PSI Raghavendra, staff Venkataramana Devadiga, Praveen Shettigar, Dileep, Brahmavar circle police station staff ASI Krishnappa, Pradeep Nayak, Ganesh, Ravindra, Shekar and Annappa took part in the operation under the guidance of additional SP Kumar Chandra, Udupi sub division assistant SP T Jaishankar and under the directions of Udupi SP Vishnuvardhan.
