Mangalore, Mar 5: St Raymond’s College, Vamanjoor organized a training in Life values and life Skills at the college hall to mark the NSS day of the college on Wednesday March 3.
The resource person Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya explained the need of possessing life values and life skills for a contended life through a power point presentation. The values such as justice, truth, love, honesty, humility, punctuality, hardwork, sacrifice, service, devotion to duty and experiencing God were highlighted. The value inspired role models like APJ Abdul Kalam, Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhiji were quoted to drive home the lesson on life values.
The ten life skills prescribed by the WHO such as critical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, interpersonal relationship, effective communication, coping with emotions, coping with stress, self-awareness and empathy were dealt in detail. The still pictures on the screen enabled the participants to learn better.
The NSS nodal officer of Mangalore University Sainath Malligemadu spoke on service and principal of St Raymond’s College, Vamanjoor Sr Cecilia Mendonca delivered the presidential address. . Headmaster of Mangala Jyothi Integrated High School, Vamanjoor Ashok Kumar Shetty was honoured for his meritorious service to the differently abled children.
The meritorious students, who won at the various inter-collegiate activities, were given away prizes. Sr Cecilia D’Souza welcomed the gathering, while NSS officer Harish, compere proposed the vote of thanks.
