Kundapur, July 22: The district administration has directed respective gram panchayats to open village health centres in the inner parts of the rural areas here so that ordinary people distressed by Coronavirus need not cover long distances for their treatment needs. Three centres were opened for the first time in Kota and Kotathattu gram panchayat limits.
The centres are situated at Padukere government primary school Anganwadi, the residence of Sathish Hegde, Giliar village, Kota gram panchayat and Moodugiliar school Anganwadi.
The equipment for the centres was procured with donations from Manuru Geetananda Foundation’s Anand C Kunder and Moodugiliar based entrepreneur Subhash Shetty. Udupi district panchayat chief executive Preethi Geylot inaugurated the centres on Wednesday.
Taluk panchayat chief executive Mohan Raj, member Lalita, Kota gram panchayat development officer Suresh Bangera, Kotathattu gram panchayat development officer Shailaja Poojary, Anganwadi C D P O Shobha Shetty, Kota village accountant Cheluvaraju, assistant Raju, former Kota gram panchayat president Vanita Sridhar Acharya, former Kotathattu gram panchayat president Raghu Tingalaya, Anganwadi activists, assistants. Asha workers and former panchayat representatives were present. Kota community health centre medical director Dr Vishwanath compered the programme.
