Mangaluru: Week-long total lockdown in Dakshina Kannada from Jul 16

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 13: A week-long total lockdown has been announced in Dakshina Kannada district from July 16.

In a video message on Monday July 13, the minister said, “We had a discussion with chief minister Yediyurappa and other officials, where we kept forward certain suggestions regarding the spreading coronavirus pandemic in the district. There is a need of implementing lockdown now. The district administration and people’s representatives have taken this decision keeping in mind the best interests of the public.

“The increasing number of cases can be stopped only by implementing a strict lockdown. Hence, I appeal to the citizens in Dakshina Kannada district to buy essential items till Wednesday after which there will be a total lockdown for a week from Thursday. The guidelines and norms for the lockdown which will be in place from Wednesday 8 pm will be issued shortly.

“I appeal to all to maintain social distance and take all precautions. We are implementing lockdown taking into consideration the suggestions of people’s representatives and also the public. I request the public to cooperate with us,” he said.

Lockdown no use, except educational for people and avoidance by authorities to blame us for their dereliction.
Think: If mask helps, why the social distance? If social distance works, why Mask? if both social distance and mask work, why Lockdown?

Lockdown will NOT help containing virus or bacteria, best practises will and yesterday New York recorded finally recorded zero deaths as most people's bodies getting used to it, else it will Not leave, No one can escape it and Lockdown only delays, not stop it - rather becomes worse as is happening now due to previous lockdown as it spreads Indoors easily and Not Outdoors unless crowded.

Mask and Lockdown don't help and its method by authorities have made their problem of containing illness, our problem. To scare us instead of doing their job.

Authorities should have arranged for proper testing of maximum people like Vietnam, South Korea, New Zealand and segregated infected at start or even now - instead all this drama as hospitals, top doctors, health officials SCAM as getting huge commissions, 40% on all treatment, testing (see Aamir Khan's show exposing this in 'Satyamev Jayeta) so many non-corona put with positive cases to make them positive, numerous non-covid deaths recorded as Corona as Hospitals get large extra payments for dealing with Infectious diseases and only few days ago Govt woken up and ordered investigation, though known from day-1.

Essentials should be allowed. It's not easy task to stock up and stay put for 7 days. Veggies last for 2 days after that they get spoilt. Fish and meat can be frozen but they taste lousy after frozen as the vendors already frozen them multiple times. Packaged food contains all sorts of chemicals and not recommended as it kills immunity. Fresh veggies are the only hopes to boost immunity in order to tackle the covid19 which is without any medecine or vaccine. Hence lockdown without essentials could be a disaster...🤔🙏😢

Kota sir when you take decision dont take it just coz everyone is doing it..think wide ways, consider all circumstances, think logically and practically.Do you even know hiw many committed suicide and how many lost jobs.covid is something airborne so you could take minimal measures as in weekend lockdown or weekdays allow only people going for work!! Yeah this needs to be implemented with appropriate measures , like a pass or verified doc from respective employer. And maybe apoint some ofifcials in each area to make sure people follow social distancing other other precautionary measures Or something better. And yeah one week lockdown is not difficult but I know you ll extend just coz you want to simply follow other districts regulations..lol..

"The chief minister advised the concerned not to nurse the false notion that lockdown will address all the ills and concerns relating to coronavirus.

He obtained a report on the current situation in Dakshina Kannada district. During the interaction, he gave his notion about lockdown as above.

Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinvas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and other officials were present during the meeting."

    Sir,
Day before you stated that you will hold a meeting with the CM & other concerned & decide on breakdown! After the meeting , CM stated clearly he is not in favour of breakdown, but within an hour, you came out with an unilateral statement imposing your own diktat which was really surprising & least expected; then why was the meeting heil???This looks one a cat & mouse game; the common man is fedup with such contradictions!
Please do some research and see for yourself what various people who suffered Covid19 have to say that most got it despite taking ultimate precautions, which clearly supports the latest findings that COVID19is also airborne infection; now it's knocking on the doors of rich & famous who were playing safe & giving daily advise to others!
Tell us from where will a middle class man get money for food w/o job for 4 months??
In between you have special permission for fishing wherein the transmission might have taken at a rapid pace! Also allowing public transport, gatherings, religious places added to the flareup!
The rich & those with black money can survive for even 1-2 years, BUT THIS IS THE FUNERAL OF THE COMMON MAN!
BTW, EVEN DUBAI RESUMED IT'S TOURISM!!
IMHO, no LOCKDOWN is going to work in a poor & overpopulated country like India!!

ABOVE IS A VERY PERSONAL OPINION FROM A DESPERATE CITIZEN!
    JAI HIND!

Dear all, as u all known henceforth we have to live with this virus, just like dengue, malaria, etc.. so by doing lockdown whether everything will be solved. Lockdown is not the only solution for stopping this virus. First we have to see the after effects of doing lockdown.
As u all think by doing lockdown virus will go is absolutely foolishness. It will increase more. See the effect what the unplanned lockdown did to the ppl. Don't blindly follow in the footsteps of our unplanning govt both central and state.
When the lockdown was done what our PM and CM and all the ministers did, but only a big zero.
The virus can be contained by ourselves by taking necessary precautions like following SMS rule promptly.
Please come of the mindset of lockdown and closing the area. In initial lockdown itself so many ppl have suffered like so many ppl lost their jobs, reductions in salaries, no food to eat, etc....
Now in blore they have announced lockdown again but what will be the benefit from it nobody knows.
Let us fight this virus by taking necessary precautions within ourselves.
Please follow SMS rule and be safe.

We are now paying the price for the exemplary recklessness demonstrated in February (till 19 March) by our country's great leader in not closing down the international flights in time (even after the much ridiculed opposition leader warned him on 12th February about the massive dangers of this virus). The great leader chose to dance with another similar leader of the world in Delhi and Gujarat, and pull down an elected government in MP in this period. When Virus in its strongest form had already entered through multiple airports, we chose to close the gates!
Now face it - no matter how much we lockdown, unless the govt prepares for worse with required infrastructure, none of this will help.
We may actually see stampede in all veg/fruit/meat/fish markets over next 2 days - enough to bring out more cases when they open again in a week/15days time!
Now, since the govt is asking more and more people to be treated at home, and with this one-more lockdown going to restrict movements, will the govt release a list of non-prescription medicines that people can themselves buy from a pharmacy and treat themselves?
Else we will be sitting on a death-pile soon.

Even after unlocking after a week, please impose stringent measures of social distancing and mask-wearing. Some people just don't get it and are continuing to play with other people's lives.

We can take care of ourselves. or Your intention is to raise the pandemic and make money. Your food kit which u gave to public is not worth Rs.1000. How much u people charged for that. May be 3000/. A IMMEDIATE LOCK DOWN IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR....people have to learn to co operate...Every body is facing economic difficulties this is now a global situation...Economic crunch is unavoidable for all of us...But we must understand that since the past 1 week the cases in Mangalore have risen drastically (1300 plus active cases) this surely calls for immediate measures as it suggests community transmission has begun.....we simply don't have the infrastructure n health facilities to manage more cases...Doctors are really fighting it out in a big way...The last thing we want is our heath system to collapse...if this happens even non covid patients will get less care and it will be a chaos....In such a situation the mortality rate increases...So we will have to put aside the difference 's n support this lock down...Stay home Stay safe all and let's fight this out as responsible citizens...

It is a good step to consider lockdown for another week to reduce the speed of COVID cases in DK . But local authorities should not repeat the mistake of earlier lockdown.
    1. Issue notice 3 days prior to lock down and keep essential services on these 3 days ,from 7am to 10 pm
    2. During lock down close everything except medical services
    3. Unlock in 7 days only to open essentials but don’t allow vehicles to move beyond 2 km jurisdiction , that too only one person ( all should carry aadhar strictly even within 2 km jurisdiction ) car and two wheeler strictly one person ) taxi and auto driver plus one )
    4. In 10 day’s with the same rule allow factories and other commercial activities ,with strict employee cards ( employer should submit an online application mentioning employee details to avoid adding extra pass. Even construction activities with contractors letter and ID . )This can be started immediately so that pass can be arranged during this 10days lock down period with proper verification )
    5. Till month end same system should be followed with strict control by the police and the administration in addition to-following actions ( announcement should be made throughout , including the imposition of section 144 ,informing the following through mics , newspapers and various other means )
    a. Mask compulsory if not Rs. 500 fine
    b. Social distance is responsibility of shop owner . If not Cancel license for 2 months
    c. Stop unnecessary movement of people without IDs for a month
    d. allow all buses to move after 10 days lock down to enable employees and workers to reach work place with strict social distance - give subsidy to bus owners or run Govt bus .

    6. Should Stop unnecessary development work for a year and spend this money to subsidise medical facilities for poor for COVID treatment . All agree that smart city and smart road is required but ,in this situation it is better to defer it for a year and use that fund for Basic things such as medicine ,food for poor and transport for public . On one hand the fuel price has increased and public transportation is not available on the other. Middle class and poor ,working People are struggling in this situation . Even public are deferring luxuries so Government can also defer this for a year

Time to bring the government down or this lockdown nonsense won't stop.
    2 months didn't stop it.
And no other country is considering a total lockdown.
Also when you announce a total lockdown people are going to go out for these 2 days like crazy flout all norms and in panic buy essentials and liquor.
So the virus will spread in these 2 days more than if there was no lockdown.
And after 1 week when they open more people will be infected.
What are they going to keep doing lockdown??
There is no argument that this virus can be contained of proper procedures are maintained that is wearing masks and sanitization and avoid touching eyes nose mouth.
Then why the lockdown if people can't follow this let them die it's better.
Why should the rest of us suffer. Who follow proper procedures

If a 90 day nation wide lockdown did not stop the virus what will a 7 day lockdown do, except delay the inevitable for 7 days.If nature was allowed it's due course without any lockdown, testing and tracing,by now the number of new cases would have started coming down drastically, there would have been much fewer deaths as comorbidities would have been treated well, business would have continued without economic loss, there would have been no suicides due to fear and financial woes, and there would have been no hunger deaths.People are only spending for testing, hospitalization, sanitizers and what not.Children would not have lost a year of knowledge.India would have been a financial super power.
The best option would have been to seal/restrict/test/quarantine the incomming passengers from abroad in January itself. We need not have imported the virus.
