Mangaluru, Jul 13: SSLC answer sheet evaluation work is set to begin in the city from Monday July 13 onward. The work will be undertaken by 1,300 evaluators spread over eight centres.
The work will go on from 10 am to 5 pm. In view of coronavirus risk, all precautionary measures are in place in all these centres. Even though the lecturers from the district had requested the government to allow them to undertake answer sheet evaluation work at their respective taluk headquarters in view of health risks involved, the government has convinced the teachers that it is too late for thinking of taking such measures.
The education department has secured a list of teachers being deputed for evaluation work from each of the taluks. The responsibility of bringing the evaluators to the centres has been entrusted to the taluk education officers. Therefore, bus arrangements have been made to the city from each of the taluks.
In the past, the evaluators used to stay in the city till the work was completed. However, because of lodging problems this time, teachers in some cases have to travel 150 km from places located in rural areas of Sullia taluk, Charmadi area etc to reach the city.
Vice president of Karnataka State High School Teachers Association, Ramakrishna Shirur, said that evaluation work is being undertaken in Mangaluru and the department has not met the teachers request to hold evaluation work at the taluk headquarters. He however said that the department has promised to arrange to bring the evaluators to the city. Deputy director of public instruction here, Malleswamy, said that buses will be arranged to bring the teachers for evaluation work every day and that the work is expected to continue till next Saturday.
For enabling the concerned to hold SSLC answer sheet evaluation work without any problem, areas up to a radius of 200 metres around the valuation centres have been declared as prohibited areas and prohibitory orders under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code have been issued by the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sindhu B Rupesh, from July 13 to July 20.
