Mangaluru: Four more succumb to coronavirus, Dakshina Kannada toll reaches 46

Mangaluru, Jul 12: Four more deaths related to coronavirus have been reported in Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday July 12.

The deceased are a 50-year-old man from Puttur, a 72-year-old man from city's Urwa Store area, a 60-year-old woman from Ballal Bagh, and a 68-year-old woman from Bunder.

All of them, except the Puttur resident, had been admitted to Wenlock hospital.

The Puttur resident had been admitted to a private hospital in Deralakatte.

Earlier in the day, another Covid-19 patient, a 72-year-old male resident of Beltangady, passed away in his home.

With this, a total of five deaths have occured in the district in a single day, taking the death toll to 46.

    What is happening here?Is the treatment not good enough at our private hospitals here?Is treatment available only at Wenlock?For a district that is famous all over for its healthcare,this is truly shocking and scary.Its like if we get infected then theres no hope?

    I am blaming both state and central government for allowing mass migration after the initial lockdown. Higher officials may be knowingly allowed migration, total negligence and poor administration. Resulted in risk for 1.3 billion people. Sad

    I think calling their deaths due to coronavirus is a bit misleading because they might be having other complications too for example the man who passed away at his home. Anyway rest in peace. A death is still a death.

    Other reasons do not get sudden death. Only corona gives quick death.
    If covid virus attacks lungs, heart or kidney then death guaranteed!

    Rohan, a death is considered a covid death if there is a clear indication that the death was NOT caused by reasons which are NOT related to the virus. So even if the person has morbidities, the virus worsened his condition leading to death. Without the virus that person would have survived his ailment (diabetes, heart disease...)

    ONLY REMEDY " STAY HOME STAY SAFE"
    If at all lockdown is declared please try to buy essentials for the entire week in advance n never take any chance to go out.
    We can definitely bring down the casualties.

    The fatality rate of our district stands at 2.2% as of now whereas the fatality rate of Karnataka state stands at 1.7%.
    Majority of casualties have happened due to comorbidities but again a life lost is a life lost.
    Dakshina Kannada has a large number of well equipped medical college hospitals and the Government authorities should coordinate in uniting them all in providing the best healthcare facilities available.
    We can fight this, united.
