Mangaluru: No lockdown in DK yet, decision after meeting with CM - Kota Srinivas Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 12: Amid rumours of an impending lockdown in Dakshina Kannada, district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Sunday July 12 clarified that no decision has been taken so far in this regard.

Messages have been going viral on social media and even on some Kannada news channels that a lockdown would be imposed in the district for a week from July 14 to July 22 in line with the lockdown in Bengaluru.

However, Kota Srinivas Poojary put the rumours to rest and said that any further decision on reimposition of lockdown would be taken only after a meeting with the chief minister on Monday July 13.

"A meeting has been held on Sunday in the office of the DC with MP Nalin Kumar and deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh to study the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the district. No decision on imposing lockdown in the district was taken in this meeting.

"On Monday, July 13, I, alongwith MP Nalin and DC will have a video conference with CM Yediyurappa at 11 am. Once the video conference is over, further decision will be taken," he said.

"It has come to our notice that public is observing voluntary lockdown in many parts of the district. We will not take any decision which will create inconvenience to the public. People should not get confused. Any decision will be taken only after meeting with CM on Monday," clarified Poojary.

MLA U T Khader urges CM to announce lockdown in DK

Meanwhile, MLA U T Khader has requested CM Yediyurappa through a tweet to impose lockdown in Dakshina Kannada district as done in Bengaluru.

In his tweet, Khader urged Yediyurappa, "...the situation of coronavirus pandemic is going out of control with every passing day. Announce lockdown here also like you have announced in Bengaluru. Increase health and medical infrastructure. Only after getting the supplementary plan ready for implementation, relax the lockdown in phases. This is my sincere request."

For the past one week the number of coronavirus cases in the district of Dakshina Kannada has been increasing rapidly. On Saturday, it crossed the 2,000 mark. In total 42 people have lost their lives so far.

This is also the season of vital flu, cold, malaria, dengue, lepto, chinkungunya etc! There is very much possibility that some of these infections occur concomitantly!

BTW, many high profile Bollywood families have contracted COVID19 despite taking the best care giving rise to speculation that this virus also is airborne spread!

IMHO, public transport, malls, & gatherings should be banned with immediate effect! Resumption of public transport could be the main reason for sudden flare up, coz before that infection rate was very minimal!

Nearly 2300 people have committed suicide in May and June exceeding all previous years!
It is too late to announce lockdown as per and & fancies of politicians w/o any scientific background! Everything has already messed up!
WHO has got research papers from 282 scientists around the world claiming that COVID19 is an airborne infection under certain conditions & not specifically spread through sneezing, coughing, & droplets, but the bar has been kept high for obvious reasons!
The financial conditions of many working class people has hit rock bottom! Daily wage workers have turned beggars! Most businesses including restaurants are shutting down due to heavy losses?
Only in Bangalore between March & June 200 people died because of non COVID19 illnesses, 30% of cardiac patients for not receive medical care, 30% reduction in tb notifications this year, 400+/day die in road accidents! All this combined makes CORONA mortality miniscule!
Pvt hospitals are fleecing innocent people like anything!
Public transport, malls, gatherings need to be banned first!
Also, newer & newer details of COVID19 are coming out every day; it's manifestation is different in different people; in some people varied symptoms persist for up to 2 months post recovery! There is no specific.protocol for serious cases!
Intubation for ventilation, a delicate procedure, requires highly trained doctord, but is done by ordinary COVID19 warriors leading to serious complications!
    The ist is too long....
SOCIOECONOMIC EFFECTS OF CORONA CONUNDRUM WILL BE VERY VERY PAINFUL AND PROLONGED!!

Rightly pointed, but majority of people are mislead & are constantly kept in panic mode by media, they meekly submit whatever the leaders ask them to as they think lock down is the only solution for an infectious disease which no country did for Influenza Like Illness every season in their country which took more lives than this hyped up corona.

When people don't know what to do next they go back & start from the scratch?
It isn't snake & ladder game to do all these illogical things, as we already know lock downs didn't help in stopping infections, so the need of the hour is use that experience to come forward with steps we need to adopt to Live With Virus, just like previous epidemics this too is likely to end in December of 2021, no nation can survive if it goes on wrecking its own economy for long.
Look at the mortality rates specifically because of ONLY Covid, they are far lower if co-morbid count is not taken into account as even without corona their chances of longer survival was less than 50%.
Improve Immunity, stop fear mongering through media that just need to be practical, open up schools as worldwide data shows kids didn't suffer or bring back infections to their homes too. Need to educate parents regarding this while taking care to protect those few vulnerable people instead of subjecting whole population to more stringent lock downs which make isolated people more vulnerable to future infections.

When people are ignorant, careless (and even uneducated or 'illiterate'/ some even behave so) lock-down may be needed. Otherwise what the government is claiming or wishing for i.e. flattening the curve, will not work. India has a higher density of population which is another important factor to take note of.

This delay in lockdown make no sense. This shows as if Coronavirus has given a date that it will appear on a particular day. It has already spread and stressing rapidly all over the world.

This is what happens when the local leaders are not able to take decisions. The MLA waits for the MP. The MP waits for the CM and the CM waits for the PM to decide. By this time we would have had another 1000 more infections and a couple of deaths. Decide guys. Dont you see, people are losing patience. Your decisions or rather lack of the ability to make decisions are making people die, contract corona, lose their jobs. Understand from the common mans point of view.
