Mangaluru, Jul 12: Amid rumours of an impending lockdown in Dakshina Kannada, district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Sunday July 12 clarified that no decision has been taken so far in this regard.
Messages have been going viral on social media and even on some Kannada news channels that a lockdown would be imposed in the district for a week from July 14 to July 22 in line with the lockdown in Bengaluru.
However, Kota Srinivas Poojary put the rumours to rest and said that any further decision on reimposition of lockdown would be taken only after a meeting with the chief minister on Monday July 13.
"A meeting has been held on Sunday in the office of the DC with MP Nalin Kumar and deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh to study the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the district. No decision on imposing lockdown in the district was taken in this meeting.
"On Monday, July 13, I, alongwith MP Nalin and DC will have a video conference with CM Yediyurappa at 11 am. Once the video conference is over, further decision will be taken," he said.
"It has come to our notice that public is observing voluntary lockdown in many parts of the district. We will not take any decision which will create inconvenience to the public. People should not get confused. Any decision will be taken only after meeting with CM on Monday," clarified Poojary.
