No lockdown in Bengaluru, do not leave city: Home minister Basavaraj Bommai

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jul 5: Home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday July 5 allayed rumours about another possible lockdown in Bengaluru and appealed to people to stay where they are and not to return to their native places out of panic.

Sources say that several people have been leaving Bengaluru in the last few days fearing another lockdown.

Speaking to media in the city, minister said, "Coronavirus situation is completely under control in the state. Do not panic. If you go to your native villages the pandemic will spread there also. So be safe in the city."

He also dismissed reports about bed shortage in Bengaluru hospitals and said nearly 70 percent of the beds were unoccupied in private hospitals in the city. "There is no need to panic over bed shortage," he said.

"The Sunday lockdown of July 5 is a great success. People have closed down shops and stayed indoors voluntarily. No one has come out without any valid reason. All have to continue the same till evening," he added.

How can the people trust his words when there are at least 20 deaths in the city everyday? Adding to this, there is at least one case each day of denial of treatment in hospitals. Life is dear to us and these words mean nothing. Action on ground is what counts.

During Congress 67 years of rule such bold and daring decisions were never taken. You real need a steel heart to take such tough decisions where people are dying daily due to Coronavirus and government wants to continue the economy otherwise their tax collection rate will go down. I admire BJP for taking tough decisions. For e.g. ceding Galwan valley and pretending nothing happened. In Congress rule did you found such Veer leaders? No.
