Daijiworld Media Release – Mumbai
Mumbai, Feb 21: In a swift operation, the Mumbai crime branch, in coordination with Buldhana Police, has arrested two individuals for allegedly sending a threat email to Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
The accused, identified as Mangesh Wayal (35) and Abhay Shingane (22) from Deulgaon Mahi in Buldhana district, were traced and nabbed within 24 hours of the investigation. They are being transported to Mumbai for further legal proceedings.

The case was registered at Goregaon police station after an email was received on Thursday, threatening to bomb the official vehicle of DyCM Shinde. Authorities swiftly launched an investigation and booked the suspects under sections 351(3), 351(4), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Despite the security scare, Shinde remained unfazed, attending the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta along with CM Devendra Fadnavis and DyCM Ajit Pawar. He also participated in multiple public events as scheduled.
Reacting to the development, Shiv Sena spokesperson Kiran Hegde termed the threat as a possible prank but stressed the need for stringent action. "Such threats should not be taken lightly. Strict action is necessary to prevent misuse of digital platforms for intimidation," he said.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked a political row, with opposition parties questioning Maharashtra’s law and order situation. The government, however, assured that security measures are being strengthened, and the case is being pursued aggressively.
Investigators are probing whether the accused acted independently or were part of a larger cyber network. Digital forensic teams are analysing email logs and communication records for further leads. If found guilty, the accused could face stringent legal consequences, including extended imprisonment and heavy fines.
Authorities have reiterated that security around high-profile leaders will be further reinforced to prevent similar threats in the future.
