Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 2: On the 25th day of easing lockdown, Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, July 2, reported 90 fresh cases and one death in the district. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 14 new cases.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 47,696 people have been screened so far, including 113 on Thursday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 14,430 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 13,080 have turned out negative, and 923 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 428 are currently active. As many as 477 persons have recovered and been discharged including 33 on Thursday, and 18 deaths have occurred so far including one on Thursday.
As many as 33 patients, 17 males and 16 females including one child were discharged from Wenlock on Thursday.
Four patients, two males and females each, are serious and being treated in the ICU.
As many as 293 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 130 samples were received on Thursday, out of which 90 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 427 samples are awaited.
Of the 90 who tested positive on Thursday, 62 are males and 28 females, including 11 children. Among the 84 new patients, 15 have returned from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, 19 are diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI), 8 are suffering from a severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and 31 were primary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of 17 patients is on.
One death was reported on Thursday. The victim was a male aged 49 from Kalladka in Bantwal. He passed away at a private hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on June 27 due to kidney-related ailments. As per sources, he was at home since 20 days battling various health issues like tuberculosis and liver-related ailments.
A total of 84 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 7,175 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 30 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,861 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 3 on Thursday, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,012 persons are currently under home quarantine.
A total of 88 people are in isolation wards, including 16 fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, eight each have SARI and influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,047 people, including 10 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 15,630 samples have been collected so far, including 811 on Thursday, out of which 73 are COVID contacts and 20 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 13,450 samples have turned out to be negative, including 256 on Thursday, and 938 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,242 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 14 on Thursday. As many as 1,090 patients have been discharged so far including 21 on Thursday, and 149 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
Among the 14 new cases reported on Thursday, 8 males and 6 females, four each have travelled from Maharashtra and Bengaluru, one from Kerala and five are primary contacts of earlier patients.
