Mangaluru: Youth from Maroli who underwent pilot training commits suicide

Mangaluru, Jul 2: A youth from Maroli here killed himself by hanging at his home on Wednesday July 1. Adwaith Shetty (32), who ended his life, had undergone pilot training.

It is learnt that Shetty was on the lookout for a suitable job. It is said that he had come back to his native place, Maroli, three days ago. As per information available, he hanged himself when no one else was at home. So far, a plausible reason which would have forced the youth to take this extreme step has not been found.

A case of unnatural death was registered in Kankanady police station.

Police are investigating.

    Poor fellow.very sad.He was young.We need not search long for his suicide.I am sure either he wasnt successful in exam,or he took loan for his licence ,training,now banks are asking back money ,whereas he has no job due to corona.At present due to this travel agency has mega problems.No Aviation at present.many companys attaching aviation are at loss.no jobs.He could have joined Navy ,atleast there he could get free training.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.May his soul rest in peace.Atleast he could have confined his problems to the family or friends who could help him.

    To get Pilot training is not easy these days. He must have spent a lot of money of his family towards the end. Now suddenly Airlines are in bad shape. Hope for improvement in the situation is also not there, until Covid goes off. After training for years and a huge effort towards a specific job, when one finds himself in an uncertain bind, it is not easy.

    May his soul rest in peace!

    Dear All,
    First of all suicide is not a way to end depressed life. It is absolutely out of faith, lack of God consciousness.
    Our religion says if someone kills on his own he or she will loose both the life of this world and hereafter, God knows best.
    One thing to learn during this covid-19 pandemic out of many signs is that no one has control of anything or the least, except the @#Lord Almighty

    The best thing now is if you have money, buy land grow vegetables spend into agriculture, use whatever you want and remaining vegetables you can sell and earn money. No other jobs are secure in this world. With cultivation you can eat something and earn little money for your livelihood. That is best nowadays. I feel in future only agriculture will survive.

    We may not be able to fathom the struggle Advithya Shetty went through.In general, it is said that the pilot training costs 25 to 40 lacs but the ground reality possibly is that the pilot training may cost a MINIMUM of $80,995 from zero experience. The total cost may come up to a Crore or more by the end of CPL/multi engine training /ATPL etc. Pilots have to get trained paying a huge amount of fees. If they have a lengthy gap without a job or haven't flown for a while, they will have to get trained again/appear for the exam / simulators etc. Firstly, it must have been extremely difficult to have had spent so much money and not have a job. Definitely, one would constantly think how to get back the money spent. Also, if you don't have a job for 2 or more years, it is a havoc after spending so much. Parents take hefty loans or give away all their savings for this. After all the struggle and payments, if there is no job , it can be quite bad . The scenario could be anything. But if someone has spent a lot and has no job, it definitely causes depression. Also, when friends from the same field have jobs and you don't, it causes agony. To make it worse, we are facing the pandemic wherein the aviation industry is doomed along with all the other businesses. Many pilots are laid off. Whoever has a job just needs to hold on to it. Definitely, suicide isn't a solution but he must have knocked many doors and may have not been able to get a job nor get past the feeling of enormous failure . I so wish he thought I am not alone in this as the whole world is also doomed right now because of Covid and many have died. We all should accept the fact that the whole world is suffering . So we all will get past this phase together. People from different industries have lost jobs. Same family members have lost jobs together. This is not the end though. Those who trust in God and fight back will flourish. We all will. It is just a matter of time.Condolences to the bereaved family.

    RIP!
    It's very unfortunate that many students have gotten trapped in an industry going through the worst throes of recession; most airlines have slashed staff & even cut salaries by 50%, nobody is spared; Air India recently cancelled contracts of 200 contract pilots, Etihad & Emirates, BA, in deep trouble, Virgin Australia has collapsed, Boeing laid of 7000 workers recently! It would take a very long time for international travel to pick up!

    AFTER SPENDING 25-40 LACS ON TRAINING, IF THIS IS THE JOB SITUATION, IMAGINE WHAT WOULD ONE'S MENTAL STATUS BE?
    OFCOURSE, HE COULD HAVE OPTED FOR SOME OTHER JOB INSTEAD OF COMMITTING SUICIDE!!

    Aviation jobs are the worst hit...

    since our country is the 4th highest affected corona pandemic and no. still increasing...we cannot expect international flights to resume in foreseeable future... similar case with domestic flights also...

    America, Canada implemented PPP for all job lost employees (Pay Protection Program)... here even a labourer who lost livelihood has to pay more than normal 'train fare' to the govt owned railways to reach back his native place....

    It is so worrying situation what we are seeing now a days! It is really true, our kids are trained to handle success, not failure!!!

    Very very sad... Whatever we say now it's of no use.... One young man is no more even after obtaining so much of education... May your soul rest in peace Advaith.... Government should start compulsory counselling classes in every field of education with a good counsellors but not money minded ones... Condolences to his bereaved family...     Getting trained and and getting a job are 2 different things.
    There is no need to fall prey for a illusory image that we carry to please others ..
    If you fail ..you can always rise in something else ..Besides ..failure and success are in the mind only ..in deeper reality it means nothing..and is absurd. If we are simple ..God always gives without asking what is appropriate and suitable for one..having said this ..one has to make honest attempt to learn and grow in which ever field

    Yet another young life gone just like that. May his soul rest in peace we pray and may his family get strength, courage and confidence to bear this huge untimely loss.
    Jobless youth, specially this commercial pilot course after spending lakhs of rupees on Education, you do not get a suitable job, frustration, anxiety, may be family pressure, depression with all these stress,can lead to anything in a person these days.
    Hope our youth understand that your life is more important than a job, you are more important to us than your money, you are more important to us because you are our future.

    Covid19 pandemic has dealt a bloody body blow, to the entire global airline industry. Airlines in our nation, has been severely struck by turbulence..... many have crash landed into oblivion !! Pilots aspiring to graduate n earn their licenses, have to invest huge volumes of cash. There is NIL success in gaining employment, this must have depressed this young aspiring man.... With jobless expatriates, arriving back home, to an uncertain future, the nation is unprepared to avert such heart breaking tragedies. Adwaith, rest in eternal peace !!!!!

    The difference in west and India is, we try to carry a heavier ego.
    In Europe immediately out of college, you pick up the first opportunity you bump into. Be it a waitress at the bar or sales man in a clothing store.
    Even professional degree holders while searching for the right opportunity, take up normal jobs to meet the expenses.
    We have to seriously teach our children that every job is respectable.

    Though the reason for the suicide is not known, probably it may be owing to not getting the pilot's job. In India, if one has a flying experience of 250 hours, he can work as a commercial pilot.. To be a commercial pilot abroad, one has to have flying experience of 750 hours.

    Problem is, you don't get job without experience and you don't get experience without job ! RIP dear, you may be a victim of reality today, in an overpopulated country.

    Is it become a fashion !! All blame goes to the CURRENT EDUCATION SYSTEM !! even after spending of LAKHS RS on DEGREE education in PRIVATE SCHOOLS !! what you will get !! A big salary of 5000 rs per month ( influential people only get that jobs) !! You looks like a CLOWN in REAL LIFE !! you spend golden life in EDUCATION BECOME WORTHLESS and you surrender to that same depression which you cant share with anybody because of EGO will not allow you to share it !!
