Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 1: On the 24th day of easing lockdown, Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday July 1, reported 84 fresh cases and three deaths in the district. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 22 new cases.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 47,696 people have been screened so far, including 113 on Wednesday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 14,137 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 13,040 have turned out negative, and 833 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 372 are currently active. As many as 444 persons have recovered and been discharged including one on Wednesday, and 17 deaths have occurred so far.
One patient was discharged from Wenlock on Wednesday.
Three patients, one male and two females, are serious and being treated in the ICU.
As many as 381 samples were sent for testing on Wednesday. Reports of 145 samples were received on Wednesday, out of which 84 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 264 samples are awaited.
Of the 84 who tested positive on Wednesday, 52 are males and 32 females, including 11 children. Among the 84 new patients, one is an inter-state returnee, six returned from Sharjah, 28 have been diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI) and 38 were primary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of seven patients is on.
Three deaths were reported on Wednesday. They include three males, a 78-year-old who was suffering from diabetes and pneumonia; a 31-year-old who was battling health issues due to high blood pressure; and a 76-year-old from Bhatkal suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory illness and pneumonia.
A total of 84 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 7,104 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 30 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh in a notification on Wednesday has imposed prohibitory orders in the district from July 1 till the end of the month from 8 pm to 5 am to avoid unnecessary movement of public.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,858 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 6 on Wednesday, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 961 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 82 people are in isolation wards, including 20 fresh admissions on Wednesday. Among them, six have SARI and nine influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,037 people, including 15 on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 14,819 samples have been collected so far, including 263 on Wednesday, out of which 19 are COVID contacts and 17 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 13,194 samples have turned out to be negative, including 218 on Wednesday, and 397 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,228 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 22 on Wednesday. As many as 1,069 patients have been discharged so far including two on Wednesday, and 156 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
Among the 22 new cases reported on Wednesday, which include 11 males and females each, five have travel history to Maharashtra, one each from Saudi Arabia, Telangana and Bengaluru and 14 primary contacts of earlier patients.
