Panaji, Jun 27: Goa Board of Higher Secondary Education chairman, Ramkrishna Samant said that a supplementary exam would be held from July 30 onwards for students who could not attend the three rescheduled class 12 exam papers that were held from May 20 to 22. He, however, clarified that the new dates are subjected to change based on the situation of that time.

Samant said that arrangements were made for students in the neighboring states sharing borders with the state such as Karnataka and Maharashtra. But there are students even from far off states and they had been getting calls. "Some students were in far off areas like Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. We have been getting some calls from such students. There may be around 50 students each. They can appear for the July-August exam. All stranded students who could not appear for the three rescheduled Class 12 papers will be permitted to answer this exam as a special case," Samant said.

The exam would also include students who have failed in one or two subjects besides the stranded students, he said.

The probability of the exams to be conducted based on circumstances Samant said, "The temporary date for commencement of the examination is July 30, but this examination is subject to the prevailing circumstances at that time and permission from the government to conduct the examination. We are giving the notice well in advance so the candidates and schools can prepare themselves for the next exam. But everything depends on the prevailing situation of COVID at that time. The cases in Goa, as you know, are rising," he said.

Students wanting to improve their marks can also eligible to apply for the exam. Students are allowed to make two attempts to improve their scores under the scheme.
