Bengaluru: Man saves teenage daughter from Instagram lover just in time

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 27: A 14-year-old girl who had fallen to the trap of a lover who got introduced to her on Instagram, was saved by her alert father just before she flew to Hyderabad to meet him.

The personnel of the cyber police station here have registered a case against the lover in question, Vishal, accusing him of tricking the girl into creating fake documents and conspiring to bring their to Hyderabad.

Vishal reportedly created a fake SSLC marks card to show that she the girl has attained 18 years of age. The police, who have registered a case under some provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and cheating, are now planning to arrest him.

The girl, who is studying in eighth standard, was active on Instagram. She got to know a boy, Vishal, through Instagram. She thought that it was true love. Vishal, who is from Hyderabad, planned to get the girl there. He convinced her to live together with him, and created fake SSLC marks card in her name. He asked her to come to Hyderabad with her Aadhar card, 15 passport size photos and Rs 10,000 in cash. The girl totally believed in him and reached the airport from home. But the father who had noticed subtle changes in his daughter's behaviour, got suspicious after noticing that she was out of the house for a long time. He checked her Instagram account and came to know of her plan to fly to Hyderabad. He rushed to Kempegowda International Airport here, found his daughter waiting for her flight, and convinced her to accompany him back home.

The parents who checked internet got doubt that Vishal must be a person who was involved with cyber-crimes who had cheated several girls in the past. Therefore, they filed a complaint in the cyber station. The police are trying to trace Vishal.

Limit social media. Parents make the mistake of letting their kids spend too much time on social media. Children might be sitting in the same room as their parents, but are disengaged in family time, scrolling mindlessly on Instagram.

VishnuBhat , Bangaluru you have outright blamed the parents for the girl’s misadventure. Today the young have a lot of unforeseen pressures which the young impressionable minds may not be aware of . Here the role of even the airport authorities should come into play and question the girl who is accompanying her , her reasons for traveling alone , parents contact no’s to verify. Here I would remind you of a real life incident of a young girl being trafficked accompanied with a male with a indifferent approach that was noticed by the air hostess and her quick thinking response saved the girl . We should appreciate the father’s quickl action in saving his daughter ‘s life

Mobile phones and internet should be banned for below maturity age.Instead of video games let them play indoor or better still outdoor games. Many tech leaders -including Bill and Melinda did not allow their children to use mobile or internet until they are really mature -stress on the word 'really'.
