Mangaluru: Animal Welfare Board pays surprise visit to slaughterhouse

Mangaluru, Jun 26: Based on complaints that animals are not being slaughtered at the slaughterhouse here in tune with the law, rules and regulations, member of Animal Welfare Board from Karnataka, Vinay Shetty, paid a surprise visit to the slaughterhouse at Kudroli here on Thursday June 25.

Shetty was accompanied by the chairperson of city corporation health standing committee Poornima, veterinary doctor, and health inspector. Shetty observed that the blood of the animals slaughtered at the facility flow through the drains and reaches the river. Hence, prima facie it has been resulting in environmental pollution and clear violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, he added.

He also observed that the slaughterhouse suffers from several drawbacks. He added that he has found that there is substance in the complaints received from the general public against the slaughterhouse, and that he will submit report to the officials concerned soon.

    Why cant so callled Animal Welfare board adopt stray animals on the road,
    They can Adopt CAT, DOG,Cow, baffallor etc.
    do some surprise visit on the road and adopt what ever animals on the road without owner.

    Surprise visit organised by some so so called organisation i think this will be bouncer to them,
    As per report Slaughterhouse is not maintained in proper way.
    So New Slaughter house required from Smart City Project,
    City Corporation cannot cancel this project. if Smart city project is done then only Modi Name will come.

    These animal welfare board has ever visited the 'Gau Shala'? There are many 'Gau Shala' across India has reported death of the animals due to fodder shortage. Noe of this 'Gau Shala' has tagging system to monitor the animals brought in. The management has no records of grants received and balance sheet.

    1. Do animal welfare board has records of all 'Gau Shala' in Karnataka?
    2. Do all the animals brought in has the count and death records?
    3. How much has been spent to maintain this 'Gau Shala' each year per head of animals?
    4. Did any animal died of disease or malnourished?
    5. How much grant has been received by each 'Gau Shala' from the state government every year?
    6. What is the current statistics of non-productive animals in the state?

    People pollute the rivers and environment. Is there any alternate plan by govt. of Karnataka govt, how to manage this. In villages they use waste of fish meat to grow plants. And the vegetarian plants also grow nicely when you feed them this . Same vegitable every one buy and so called vegitarians eat this.

    Rolvin,I fully agree with you.Animals grown for food produce methane which is the highest cause of environment pollution.Also animals have brains and can feel pain, better to be a vegetarian/vegan by choice and live in harmony with nature.If school children are taken on a visit to slaughter houses and allowed to see how animals are killed, many ,if not all , will adopt a vegetarian/vegan way of life.

    This is called BIAS visit !!! like GODI Media conduct the debate to please their bosses !! There are thousand and thousand environment violations very near to your house, road, drainage, waste management handling, public nonsense like urinating, spitting etc etc and one more important thing is the STAR HOTEL kitchen - food preparation areas, staff cleanliness and their living conditions etc etc !!

    OBVIOUSLY its a PAID visit !!

    River Ganga has clean water flowing through it only because all industries settled on it's bank were closed during lock-down hence the pollution stopped. What is the government and health officials doing about it ?

    Please don't blow the Kudroli matter out of proportion just because you guys are obsessed with just one word, BEEF. For you maniacs, even legally transporting beef is a problem. A slaughter house is a place where all kind of animals are slaughtered, not just the animals that produce BEEF.

    Yes, adequate measures to control the resulting waste is necessary. No disagreement with it.

    Al-Khabeer exporting beef has abbaitor in Hyderabad. It breaks several rules. But govt is silent. No animal welfare board has guts to visit it.

Do you know that the biggest cow slaughterhouse (cow killing factory) in the WORLD is called alkabir in 400 acres of land with high security and many of the workers are hindus.     The best solution to all these problems is to stop beef exports instead sell this beef in Indian local market... No bribing.. No official visits. Why the andubhakts are not supporting this procedure.
