Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 16: On the 14th day of the easing of lockdown, seven new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while no fresh cases were detected in Udupi district on Sunday June 21.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 45,654 people have been screened so far, including 299 on Sunday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,889 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 11,238 have turned out negative, and 433 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 187 are currently active. As many as 238 persons have recovered and been discharged, and eight deaths have occured so far.
As many as 17 patients, including one woman, were discharged from Wenlock on Sunday.
As many as 294 samples were sent for testing on Sunday. Reports of 132 samples were received on Sunday, out of which 7 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 218 samples are awaited.
Of the 7 who tested positive on Sunday, three are those who returned from Kuwait on June 17, one has influenza-like illness (ILI), another severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and two are primary contacts of patient P-6618. The ILI patient is a 70-year-old resident of Puttur, while the SARI patient is a 56-year-old resident of Beltangady. The Kuwait returnees are two women aged 26 and 32, and a man aged 59, while the two primary contacts of P-6618 are a woman aged 30 years and a man aged 38.
Except for Puttur and Beltangady residents, all others have been admitted to Wenlock.
A total of 10 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 6,181 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 28 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,850 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 14 on Sunday, and a total of 4,865 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including two on Sunday. As many as 741 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 81 people are in isolation wards, including 11 fresh admissions on Sunday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while 7 have SARI and three influenza-like illness.
As many as 916 people, including two on Sunday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 13,412 samples have been collected so far, including 112 on Sunday, out of which 22 are COVID contacts and 17 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 12,082 samples have turned out to be negative, including 27 on Sunday, and 267 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,063 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, out of which 965 patients have been discharged so far, and 96 cases are currently active. Two death have occured so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
As reported earlier, a police constable in Byndoor station has tested positive, however, his case would be counted in the next bulletin, sources said.
