Mangaluru, Jun 13: After over two-month long break, Holy Mass was celebrated at Rosario Cathedral on Saturday June 13. Ever since the lockdown was enforced early in the month of March, places of religious worship were ordered to be closed down.
However, with relaxations provided, the state government had allowed for reopening temples, mosques and churches. The places of religious worship were also asked to comply with the necessary health guideline once the faithful flood in.

The Rosario Church was found strictly adhering to health norms. The temperature check, with limited seats inside the Cathedral, was followed to maintain social distancing.
It may be recalled, earlier during the week, Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha had issued a circular with guidelines to be followed while reopening churches and the resumption of public worship, urging all to follow the government’s advice. It was directed that churches should only open on June 13 if preparations to follow the guidelines are ready. If not, parishes can take time for a week more and begin services with adequate preparations on June 20. Also, it was advised that children below the age of 10 and adults above 65 years of age were advised not to participate in services held in the church.
