Bengaluru, Jun 3: The excise department has extended the conditional permission it had given for sale of liquor in wine shops till June 30. Moreover, it has extended the time permitted for liquor sale to 9 pm.
After the lockdown conditions were relaxed in phases from May 2 onward, the department had allowed sale of liquor from 9 am to 7 pm. As per the guidelines of lockdown 5.0 which was made effective from June 1, the night curfew period has been limited from 9 pm to 5 am. Therefore, the excise department has extended the liquor sale time from 9 am to 9 pm every day.
Other conditions like only parcels would be allowed to be sold, maintenance of social distance, following rules and regulations relating to regulation of coronavirus infection etc will continue along with other conditions, the department said in a circular.
The excise commissioner also said that te small scale beer manufacturers can henceforth manufacture fresh beer. In the past, the beer manufactured till May 31 by small scale products was allowed to be sold. Now, permission has been given to manufacture beer afresh. The deputy commissioners in the excise department have been asked to permit these manufacturers to sell their product in glasses, containers, and ceramics subject to the condition that the quantity does not exceed two litres.
