Mangaluru/Udupi, May 29: No coronavirus cases were reported in in Dakshina Kannada (DK) while 15 tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi on Friday, May 29.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,469 people have been screened so far including 72 on Friday. As many as 18 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility. Another 28 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 8,856 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 8,158 tested negative, and 105 positive, out of which 59 are currently active. As many as 39 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 105 positive cases, 97 are from Dakshina Kannada and eight patients are from other districts.
As many as 170 samples were sent for testing on Friday. Reports of 581 samples were received on Friday of which all were negative.
Reports of 593 samples are awaited. As many as 11 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 4,429 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Friday, 22 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
The deputy commissioner (DC) through a press release informed that Kenjar Thangadi, Barke Mulur and Sarpady Badagulipady are the three places declared as containment zones.
It was also informed by the DC that regarding the incident where a pregnant woman in quarantine reportedly did not get timely treatment and her baby died in the womb, a nine-member enquiry committee has been formed which will investigate the incident.
Udupi
As reported earlier, 15 tested positive in Udupi. As many as 11 males and four females including two children, tested positive. All the 15 persons to test positive have travelled from Maharashtra and were under quarantine.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,737 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 59 on Friday, and a total of 4,726 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 39 on Friday. As many as 37 persons are currently in home quarantine and 328 are under institutional quarantine.
Altogether, 36 high-risk persons and 55 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 70 people are in isolation wards, including 10 fresh admissions on Friday. Among them, four are coronavirus suspect, while five others have SARI and one influenza-like illness.
As many as 692 people, including 14 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 10,969 samples have been collected so far, including four on Friday. Out of them, 4,786 samples have turned out to be negative, and 6,019 reports are awaited. As many as 164 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 160 are active.
Udupi zilla panchayat staff suspected of coronavirus tests negative
An Udupi zilla panchayat staff who had tested positive for coronavirus infection in Udupi district has tested negative in the latest reports after two days.
According to the health department official Dr Prashanth Bhat, the zilla panchayat outsource staff had tested positive on May 24 and he was shifted to the hospital. The second report came negative Friday May 29. The health department decided to discharge him from the hospital on Friday.
It may be recalled, recently a lady from Karkala also tested positive in the first report and later tested negative in her second test.
