Mangaluru/Udupi, May 16: No coronavirus cases were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Saturday, May 16.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,247 people have been screened so far, including 106 on Saturday. As many as 30 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility. Ten people are quarantined at ESI Hospital with one new admission today.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 4,957 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 4,842 tested negative, 50 positive, and 29 are currently active. As many as 16 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 50 positive cases, 44 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.
Reports of 167 samples were received on Saturday which were all negative.
Reports of 65 samples are awaited. As many as nine persons were admitted for observation on Saturday.
A total of 3,382 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Saturday, four cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
According to press release from the deputy commissioner, at present eight places are declare containment zones namely Uppinangady in Puttur, Narikombu and Bengre Kasaba in Bantwal, First Neuro Hospital in Padil, and Kakkebettu, Boloor, Pilar and Guddekopla in Mangaluru.
In Udupi district, a total of 1,971 samples have been collected so far, including 109 on Saturday. Out of them, 1,829 samples have turned out to be negative and nine positive. Six of the cases are active while three have cured and been discharged. Results of 133 reports are awaited.
A total of 3,121 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 91 on Saturday, and a total of 3,743 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 50 on Saturday. As many as 804 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 39 high-risk persons and two low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 75 people are in isolation wards, including 20 fresh admissions on Saturday. Seven among them are COVID suspects while seven have SARI and six influenza-like illness.
As many as 499 people, including 11 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
