Bengaluru, May 14: Already three months are over since the educational activities throughout the country have come to a standstill. Though the mode of lockdown will differ it is definite that it is going to continue for some time to come.

The state education department has already begun preparations to conduct the remaining examinations. In the midst of this, there is also a curiosity as to how will be the new academic year.

It is decided to start schools in shifts from this academic year. Also to ensure less number of students, there is a proposal to hold the classes on alternative days.

Department of public instruction has formed a 34-member committee to study on matters like new academic year starting, syllabus and classes. This committee is going to submit its report on May 30. This information was shared by S R Umashankar, chief secretary of the department.

In addition, many important opinions are expressed in the video conference that was held by the senior officers of education department. Accordingly, classes for standard first to seventh will start after June 15 and eighth to tenth will begin from July 1 in shift method. This information was given by deputy director of education department.

The suggestions given by the senior officials of the education department include, maintaining social distance during SSLC examination, getting more rooms ready than usually required, asking students to be present at the examination center by 9.30 am for screening test and then allowing them to write examination.

The admission for government schools will be held at the end of May. Without reducing the syllabus, the portion that is not covered will be taught in the coming academic year. Accordingly syllabus will be prepared for 120, 150, 180 and 210 days.
