Dubai: Mangalorean Ehsan Ibrahim Creates Wave in International Athletic Field

Dubai, Jan 12: Ehsan Hassan Ibrahim, student of 11th standard, Indian High School here is one of the brightest sportspersons, who is making a name for himself internationally in athletics, particularly long jump.
Teenager Ehsan is the son of Ibrahim Ummer Beary and hails from Mangalore in Karnataka, India. As his recent conquests, the young champ has won gold in long jump event in the CBSE National Athletic Meet 2009-10 at SMS Stadium in Jaipur, India, recently. His winning leap was impressive 6.35 metres.
Ehsan was full of confidence when he participated in the meet as his earlier performances winning 100, 200 metre sprints and the long jump golds in the CBSE Cluster Athletic Meet at the Dubai Police Officers’ Club Stadium here and Best Athlete Award (under 16) during summer vacation at Open to All Karnataka State Athletic Championship meet held in Sports Authority of India (SAI) ground, Bangalore India had provided him with the required push.
His main support has always been his dad Ibrahim Ummer's encouragement. Al Wasl Club, Dubai coaches him in athletics. He is being nurtured by coach Dr Tapan Das. His school Indian High School has provided him with right back up as talented pupils of the school are given intensive training by specialized coaches at the school. Whenever he is in Mangalore for summer vacation Laxman Rai from Mangala Stadium guided him.
In addition to excellence in athletics, he is a karate brown belt, good swimmer and cricketer. Ehsan names activities such as swimming, cycling and reading among his hobbies. “I have not yet planned my future. But I will strive to excel both in academics and sports and thus better my career, says Ehsan
