Mangalore: Pradnya Kamath Wins All India Konkani Poetry Competition

Mangalore, Jan 7: Students from Goa have bagged all the three prizes in the late Charles and Theresa Rodrigues Memorial third All-India Konkani poetry competition for students.
The competition was organized by Kavita Trust, which works for the promotion and popularization of Konkani poetry.
Pradnya Kamath, Kavita Fondekar, Punita Naik
Pradnya A Kamath, standard X, of Dada Vaidya High School, Curti, Ponda, won the first prize of Rs 2,000 and a certificate for her poem `Shennillyo Yadi'. Kavita D Fondekar, standard IX, of Dayanand High School, Chodan, Tiswadi won the second prize of Rs 1,000 and a certificate for her poem `Monisponn', while Punita Naik, standard VIII, of M & N English High School, Comba, Margao finished second runner up, winning Rs 750 in cash and a certificate for her poem `Monisponn Khoim Sanddlam?'.
A total of 294 students took part in the competition from various schools. The Kavita Trust will give all the participating students a certificate. The winners will receive the prizes during Kavita Fest - 2010, which will be held at the banks of Sita river, Moodhadu Kudru, Barkur on Sunday, January 10.
Yuga Adarkar, winner of this competition last year will be taking part in this year's multi-lingual poetry session being held on the occasion.
H M Pernal, Victor Mathias, Kishoo Barkur, Eric Soans and Melvyn Rodrigues evaluated the poems of this competition and selected the winners.
