Udupi, May 1: As many as 18 people including staff of Sastan toll gate and a petrol pump at Tekatte in Kundapur, who underwent coronavirus test, heaved a sigh of relief after they tested negative on Friday, May 1.
A coronavirus positive patient of Mandya district had travelled from Mumbai to Mandya in a truck. He had halted at a petrol bunk in Tekatte for having bath and refreshments.
It later came to light that the truck had filled diesel in the same petrol bunk and the staff of the petrol bunk had come in contact with the man. Eighteen members including staff of Sastan toll gate and the petrol bunk were then quarantined. All the 18 people have now tested negative but are kept under quarantine for 14 days.

The officials found it difficult to identify the petrol bunk which he had used. After identifying the correct one, officials had sealed the petrol bunk. The owner and staff were also quarantined immediately. The truck then proceeded towards Udupi through Sastan toll gate. Six staff of the toll gate had come in contact with the said man.
"The test results have come as negative, but as a safety measure, we have kept all 18 of them under home quarantine for the next 14 days," said Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, DHO, Udupi.
