Bengaluru, May 1: There is a possibility that the number of coronavirus infected patients may raise to 28,000 after the relaxation of lockdown in the state. In addition, the death rate may raise to 7%. Questions are being asked whether the government is ready for such escalation.
Chief secretary of state T M Vijayabhaskar has already stated last week itself that the state government is ready to face any scenario. But health experts says that excepting oxygen beds, readiness of PPE and other medical equipment is only in paper and not available practically.
Health expert Ananth Ban says, "We have to be prepared to face the situation after the relaxation of the lockdown. The preparation of government will decide the rise or lowering of the number of cases."
A senior doctor said, "The result of development of virus and control will be known only by the end of May. So extreme caution is required at hotspots. It is not right to take off the lockdown completely. Being a doctor working in government hospital, I do not think we are ready to face the situation."
