As per rational estimate it will take at least two months for the life to come back to normalcy in Dakshina Kannada district after the end of lockdown period. Apart from the guidelines given by the central and state governments, the district administration is also mulling to take action concerning coronavirus pandemic picture of the district.
Once the lockdown is relaxed, all medical college hospitals and private hospitals are instructed to admit patients only after Covid-19 check-up. Under this precaution, if the patient is found to be positive for Covid-19, then the question of sealing down of the whole hospital does not arise. Only the ward in which the concerned patient is admitted needs to be sealed.
Health workers are visiting houses to detect coronavirus infection and also to give health information. First phase of the visit has been already completed. In the second phase, they are going to cover around six lac families in the district.
As complimentary to this, there is proposal of forming team of interested young health workers. This team will be at village or ward level. Interested people can join voluntarily. They will be given suitable training by health officers. This team will give information to people about virus infections, including coronavirus. The sketch of such teams is being readied and will be finalised soon.
Ponnuraj, nodal officer of Dakshina Kannada district said, "Government and people representatives are fighting against coronavirus pandemic. Accordingly, public also has to contribute and aware against virus infections. It is possible to keep around 80% of infections at bay if this is followed. Some rules in this respect are being prepared."
