Mangaluru, Apr 29: Their old posts in websites are proving to be their undoing and donning the roles of their nemesis for the dreams of having a comfortable job with attractive income in the Gulf for a number of people from coastal Karnataka who are now working in that region.
A person from here working in Kuwait lost his job close on the heels of lockdown enforcement. His wife, who is working as technical expert in a hospital at Kuwait too is on the verge of losing her job. This is because a post they had created in a Facebook page long back in which terrorist Jihadis were ridiculed, has become viral.
The person has now sent in his apology through WhatsApp. He said he erred in creating the said post because of lack of awareness. While confirming that it was not purposeful, he said he has high respect for all kinds of people. He also said that he has deactivated his Facebook page, while regretting his past mistake.
An NRI Indian, expressing his opinion on the issue, said that it is necessary to exercise extreme caution when posting or forwarding something in websites. A message that was created or forwarded for fun at the nick of the moment can harm the entire life. "It is necessary to make sure that one's personal information is not made available on websites. In certain cases, it might be wise to deactivate the pages," he stated.
A person working in a Gulf country lost his job. He has been accused of treating a specific religion with profanity. He had forwarded a cartoon which was published in an English publication relating to the spread of coronavirus in the country on account of a mega religious convention organized at New Delhi about a month back.
It is said that a group of people has been continuously monitoring activities in social websites of people from coastal Karnataka employed in the Gulf. This group identifies posts on which objections can be raised based on religious issues, and tags these posts to Kuwait Interior ministry, department concerned, and owner of the company for which the person works. This has resulted in job loss for many.
