Bengaluru: Everyone's eager - Will liquor sale resume after May 3?

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 28: Immense pressure has been mounted on the state government to allow sale of liquor in the state. The government therefore is seriously contemplating the desirability of giving permission for the sale of liquor after May 3. Sources believe that the government may allow sale of liquor in places other than the red zones.

It is said that the excise officials have put up a proposal before the government for consideration to start selling liquor if the lockdown extends beyond May 3. The official have also sighted suicides, suicidal tendencies and withdrawal symptoms which many are facing, to support their recommendation. The government has also noted thefts happening all over the state in liquor shops understandably by people who cannot survive without liquor.

Liquor shops and Mysore Sales International Ltd outlets will be allowed to attend to parcel service. It is believed that even if the permission for sale is given, the customers will not be allowed to consume liquor on the spot. The decision to sell liquor is largely influenced by hectic lobbying by influential people and also the need to rev up the revenue of the state.

I suggest that , only liquor MRP shops to be allowed or door delivery of liquor by Zomato, swiggy etc to avoid crowding and disrurbances.
This will help the delivery boys, wine shop owners, liquor users and most importantly the Government which is loosing it's revenue from liquor sales.

I don't consume alcohol . But i feel sad for 5he habitual alcoholics..I'm really suprised why nobody thought about using swiggy, zomato, etc to deliver alcohol...suprisingly the government also didn't bother about it...they unnecessarily lost a lot of revenue in the process.
Even the malyalis in kerala also didn't try that

We see post that people are not getting food properly and have no income then where will they get money, the rate of crime will increase if lock down is lifted, how they managed above one month ago without liquor, they have to manage more for two months, many people who have no money to buy liquor in black market they have forgotten to drink so if lock down continue, the ban on liquors also should continue, because the percentage of liquor users is mostly from middle class and lower middle class,

Liquor is not a essential thing in life, ban it completely from now onwards.
It's a God given opportunity to ban Liquor.
    Ban Liquor for safeguarding families.
Ban liquor to safeguard wives from their drunkard husbands.
Ban liquor to safeguard children from their drunkard parents.
Ban liquor to safeguard the younger generation.
Ban liquor to avoid accidents on roads.
Ban liquor to avoid unneccessary fights & murders.
Ban liquor to have peace in the neighbourhoods.
Ban liquor for the good & healthy atmosphere.
If not banned now, this country will never be able to ban it forever.
Utilise this golden opportunity to ban liquor.
Let the governments put good habbits in human beings. Become a role model.

You know what you really sound like?

Ban foods with bad fats to prevent heart attacks
Ban buses and trucks to prevent huge and fatal road accidents
Ban vehicles on the road to prevent pollution
... I think you get the idea.

Please do not be so narrow minded. If someone abuses someone else, it’s because that is their nature. Or they may have some underlying mental health issues, probably caused by similar abuse during childhood.

Liquor is not the cause of all problems. Just because I am vegetarian would you like me to protest against sale of non veg? Non veg comes with salmonella risks, etc. fish comes with arsenic poisoning risks, etc.

    Please think for some time.

Ban liquor completely if this country needs to prosper. It is because of liquor & smart phones, most of the people are addicted to both & doing all unneccessary things which are of no importance. Science, research is lagging all over the world because nobody wants to study anymore due to this smart phone menace. Almost all the people are busy with their smartphones even at workplaces.
For a healthy country Liquor should be banned completely.

The government is getting influenced by the influential liquor lobby and the fear of loosing out on the huge excise revenue.... They are not worried about gross health... abuse, addiction and subsequent pain and sorrow enveloping entire families !!! The government has a moral responsibility, to protect citizens of the state.... They should not fall prey to these corrupt lobbyists, but rather continue Lockdown of wine shops and bars indefinitely !!!!!

I think you really are a foolish person. Do you know how fund grants work?

The amount the centre releases doesn’t magically appear in some bank account. Hope you realise that. This is why there are lot of cases where governments claim that they still haven’t received GST reimbursement, flood compensation, etc.

Secondly, the whole package that the centre is providing is to DEAL WITH COVID. Do you understand the effort required for it? PPE, Masks, Sanitizers, all of this for the frontline doctors and nurses and to upgrade hospitals with beds, ventilators, equipment and to also fund trial runs of vaccines/therapies/etc. Hope you understand that the funds are not meant for daily running of the state.

Are you the Finance Minister to say that we don’t need anymore funds? Brother the state is already in 1000’s of crore loss, and here we have people in comments ready to protest if they think about bringing back one of their top revenue generators.

    Bravo to all of you..

Nobody needs your “shor-jor”, nobody needs your opinion either. If you are that foolish to think that the state should not open their highest revenue generator when they are on lockdown, it’s because you are extremely narrow minded. It’s fine, looks like this comment section is filled with a whole lot of foolish folks like you.. characterised by 90% dislikes to your comments.
