Panaji, Apr 28: The academic year for state-board schools is supposed to end on April 20. However, with the lockdown still in place, the institutions will be informing the students of their results through electronic means. Most schools have already launched a school management app and will be using this to convey the results to the parents.
While the actual report card will be handed over to them once the lockdown is lifted, the parents will be informed about their ward’s results immediately. The trophies and certificates will be handed to the students when the new academic year begins, said the headmistress of the Cujira-based Rosary High School, Sarita Carvalho.
Most schools call parents to collect the report cards and rural institutes send them by postal service. However, in the present scenario, this may turn out to be inconvenient and unreliable considering the restrictions imposed. The schools have been further instructed by the Goa Headmaster’s Association not to summon the parents to the institution during the lockdown.
While students up to class 8 shall be promoted directly, there is only the question of informing the class 9 and 11 students whether they have passed or not. Most teachers already have WhatsApp groups of their classes and they shall be informing the students their results through the same, said Vithoba Dessai, an association member.
