Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 26: On day 33 of the lockdown on Sunday April 26, Dakshina Kannada registered one more case of coronavirus, again from Bantwal.
As reported earlier, the patient is a 47-year-old resident of Narikombu, Panemangalore. She works as a sweeper in First Neuro Hospital, Padil.
As of April 25, a total of 39,491 people have been screened in the district, including 27 on Sunday. A total of 2,173 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 1,641 have tested negative and 19 positive. Five cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. Two patients have died.
A total of 53 persons have been quarantined at NIT-K Suratkal, including four new admissions on Sunday, and 32 in ESI hospital.
Altogether 6,073 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine and 2,173 have completed 14 days of quarantine.
As many as 143 samples were sent for test on April 26. As many as 214 reports were received today among which 213 tested negative and one positive. Reports of 513 samples are awaited.
A total of 29 persons are admitted for observation. As many as 1,537 patients have been treated at fever clinics. Three persons have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI).
Patient P-409 from Bantwal, who has admitted to Wenlock, is in a serious condition and is on ventilator support, the district administration said in a press release.
The district administration has urged the public to approach fever clinics if they suffer from any breathlessness or fever.
Udupi
Meanwhile, Udupi has continued to maintain a clean record, with no fresh cases reported on Sunday. All the three corona-positive patients reported so far have been cured and discharged from hospital.
As per statistics, a total of 3,336 persons, including 50 on Sunday, have been detected, either with complaints of severe acute respiratory illness or contacts of corona-positive patients.
Among them, 2,016 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 43 on Sunday, and 2,688 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 68 on Sunday.
A total of 556 people are presently under home quarantine.
Among those who are in hospital quarantine, 15 are high-risk, 21 low-risk. Eight have been admitted to isolation wards on Sunday, among whom seven have severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and one has influenza-like illness (ILI). Altogether, 56 persons are in isolation wards, while 291 have been moved out, including one on Sunday.
Ten samples were collected on Sunday, taking the total to 1,053. These including four samples of SARI symptoms, five with ILI symptoms, and one from a hotspot. None of the samples were of coronavirus suspects or contacts.
Out of the sample reports received so far, 1,009 have tested negative. Reports of 41 samples are awaited.
Kasargod
No fresh was reported in Kasargod either. So far, 175 cases have been reported in the district, out of which 160 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including one on Sunday. Presently, 15 are undergoing treatment. The district has registered 91.4% recovery rate so far.
The number of patients in isolation wards has also dipped, with only 32 in isolation as of now. As many as 2,165 are under home quarantine. Reports of 370 samples are awaited.
