Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 11: No new positive coronavirus cases were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Saturday, April 11. No positive cases have been detected from April 5.
Five have cured and have been discharged till now in Dakshina Kannada district. A 10-month-old baby which tested positive on March 27 also has cured and was discharged today.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 38,865 people have been screened so far, and 2,598 have been placed under home quarantine.
No patient has been quarantined in Wenlock hospital, while 23 have been quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many as 3,347 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine, and have not reported any symptoms. Altogether, 436 samples have been sent for testing, out of which reports of 402 have been received.
Out of 402 reports received, 390 have tested negative, while 12 have tested positive in Dakshina Kannada. Six of them are active. On Saturday, 34 samples were sent and results are awaited. Results of 46 reports were received on Saturday which were all negative.
Currently, eight people are under observation in Dakshina Kannada.
In Udupi district too, no new case was reported on Saturday. The first patient who was tested positive has been cured and was discharged in the evening. The 34-year-old came from Dubai to Manipal on March 18 and was admitted to district hospital on March 23. Two more who have been cured are expected to be discharged soon.
As many as 14 people were screened today. Ninety-nine people competed 28-day quarantine and 67 of them completed 14-day quarantine on Saturday.
Twenty-three patients were quarantined in hospitals. Eleven have been placed in isolation wards in hospital.
Five were discharged from isolation ward on Saturday, and altogether 161 have been discharged so far.
Reports of 11 samples received on Saturday have tested negative. The number of coronavirus-positive patient remains at three.
Kasargod
Two tested positive in the district today who were an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old. Their mother tested positive earlier who hails from Mogral Puttur. The two children are moved to in isolation ward. A total of 193 patients are admitted in isolation wards.
As many as 35 positive tested coronavirus patients have been discharged in the district. At present 131 patients are being treated in the hospital. On April 11, as many as 11 patients have recovered and discharged.
Chief minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan shared the pleasant news of a couple, who were cured of COVID-19 after undergoing treatment at the Kannur Government Medical College in Pariyaram were blessed with a baby. The mother, a native of Kasargod and the child are doing well, he informed.
