Karnataka fights coronavirus hard, keeps numbers below national figure

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Apr 11: The state of Karnataka is fighting coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic bravely. The steps taken by Karnataka in containing the pandemic has become a model to the whole country.

Compared to states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana and Kerala, where the number of infected persons is much more than that of the state, Karnataka is doing extremely well with only around 10 infected cases every day. So far, only 207 people are infected in Karnataka.

If other states are reporting six to seven percent of Covid-19 positive cases, Karnataka is registering only three percent cases. An expert said that the bold steps taken by the state government immediately after announcing the lockdown like immediately tracing primary and secondary contacts with the infected person and strict home and hospital quarantine, have helped in keeping the pandemic under control.

Health, revenue and police department of the state are working efficiently. Their role in containing the pandemic is of the highest order, opined Dr Manjunath. So far throat culture samples of 7,975 people are tested, out of which only 207 people are found to have Covid-19 virus infection.

According to Dr Nagaraj of Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, the state had taken immediate action of keeping international travellers arriving in the state under strict home quarantine, which helped to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Due to these steps taken by the state government of Karnataka, the pandemic has still not reached to community spreading level.

Whatever somebody say, the Karnataka Govt. has indeed done a marvellous job in controling coronavirus to spread. But in some inevitable circumstances something happened which is beyond control. Anyway it is laudable.

7800 tests is a lot ? The more the tests the number will grow. Delhi has tested 600 people per million and we have tested 124 per million. Kerala has tested 365 per million.

This time BSY has chosen educated and capable ministers like Dr.Sudhakar to handle Covid situation. Should appreciate aggressive way in which Dr Sudhakar, Sriramulu and Bsy have been coordinating . Its a collective effort which we should be proud of the current team in ruling state govt. Hope they continue with the zeal and make Karnataka come out of this situation first in the country.

I don't think so after 21days lockdown mass test is required. Test is required those who enter Karnataka from other states as well as others having sever sickness - fever headache etc.. May be I am wrong?
Comparatively other states Karnataka Lockdown control system is better. Thanks to All Political Leaders, Police force and Health & Social workers.

Well done ! Please don't let the guard down for atleast next 1 month (till mid of May); And also we should appreciate majority of Karnataka people for stricktly following social distancing and social responsibility (except a small chunk thinking it's not thier responsibility); I think our CM BSY and his team did exceptional job till now and I beleive he & his team will continue the same till we come out from this extremely depressing environment.

It is not a race on who has tested more . . The number of tests depends on the requirement and extent of contact within clusters. In Karnataka they have managed to contain the spread well, hence lesser tests probably required. But they have conducted adequate tests where it is required.

There has been no chest thumping, the article only highlights that Karnataka has done a good job so far in containing the spread and they will test as required.

Yes, the states should coordinate in containing the spread of the epidemic, not transfer the problem. Dakshina Kannada has 12 cases, hence considered active zone and there maybe a delay in lifting of the lockdown. But out of that only two are local, rest all outstation. So technically DK will pay a price for accommodating outstation patients.

Karnataka has low number of tests done comparatively, please also put stats how much is it compared to national average.
It’s not time to thump chest and fight between states, efficient tracking and higher number of testing is very very important... only then we can win as India. All states must cordinate

For the similar number of tests done, other state has higher numbers of corona patient. Appreciating the Government as well as people of Karnataka is not wrong at all. Spreading negativity is also not correct. We have fought well and will fight well ...................

There is no negativity in Nawaz, s statement. He is just warning the people and govt. not to neglect checking and more checking. He is concerned about people of Karnataka. If you neglect carona then see the condition of US.

Sandesh Amin, Mangalore Karnataka started restrictions on certain things much before when campare to other states and this lockdown method which was started 3 weeks before. Thats one of the reason Karnataka is doing well in Covid19 cases when campare to other states. Again as you said its better to take more precautions to take for some more time till the cases reaches to 0.

Absolutely, I am not here to give any negative comments and I gain nothing out of it. I don’t need to gain anything from negativity either.
The concern is on testing, we need to rapidly increase testing including those asymptotic cases. You see if Maharashtra and Kerala seeing high imported cases, ideally Karnataka should have more too, logically bangalore airport is a major hub in India and people from all over world including but not limited to Italy, China, US, arrived in Bangalore. We should not be testing only those arrived after 18.. roll back to earlier days and continue testing , otherwise it would bite back once lockdown is open.
