‘Seal Down’ of Mangaluru is fake news, clarifies district administration

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 10: Some television channels are telecasting that the city is under 'Seal Down'. This is completely baseless. There is no step taken as such to seal down the city. This was clarified by the district administration.

Lockdown is in progress in the city since many days. Only the same is being strictly implemented now. The district administration has requested the respective TV channels to confirm with the respective authorities before telecasting such sensitive news.

Deputy commissioner Sindhu P Rupesh

This kind of fake propaganda creates more panic and chaos among the public. The district administration has also requested the media to cooperate and convey the message to the public.

The 21-day lockdown that was imposed throughout the nation on March 24 is set to end on April 14. Speculations about the extension have made the most noise in the week. There is also talks about a ‘seal down.’ A seal down is a lockdown with stricter rules.

“Seal down” the TV channels first, which spread baseless news of ‘Seal down’ in Mangalore. In addition, refrain newspapers from publishing sensational bold letter headed news about shortage of food and products. These news have started ‘panic buying’’ standing in ‘panic ques’ im front of supermarkets and grocery stores today in the city.

What do you mean open for Kasaragod. We had only 3 actual cases from Mangalore. Rest of the cases came from Kerala. We have not had a single case from Mangalore or Dakshina Kannada in over 2 weeks. Consider sealing down Kasaragod, make makeshift hospitials and request the central government to make arrangements for doctors rather than creating issue to people from a different district/state.

Badges and other benefits given to such media house can be cancelled immediately which airs fake news. We are safe here by the blessings of District Administration. Let the lock down period pass smoothly without extension and Mangalore be healthy.

The worry is near the border.
If it is not monitored strictly then we may have a Super Seal down.
This after complaints of some Keralities misusing medical facilities given to them.
    Please protect DK.
