Kundapur, Apr 7: The people living in Kota and surrounding villages, who seem to be hankering for entertainment having no avenues for it because of lockdown, have begun to have fun by participating in cockfights.
When cockfight was on at a public place near Howralu Lord Mahalingeshwara temple in Kavadi village near Kota on Monday April 6, a team of policemen from Kota station raided the spot and arrested few people participating in the event. The team was led by Kota police sub-inspector, Nityananda Gowda.
The raid was conducted on the basis of reliable information. A number of persons including Madhukar, Jayaram Shetty and Prashanth from Kavadi village, Raghavendra and Sudhakar from Karkada village, Lokesh Barkur, and some others were arrested. Rs 6,880 in cash and a few two-wheelers were confiscated from the arrested persons.
A case in this connection was registered in Kota police station.
