Bengaluru: ‘No question of promoting SSLC, PU students without exams’ - Suresh Kumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 7: "After the end of the lockdown period, revision classes will be held for a week for the SSLC students. Examinations will be conducted thereafter. At any cost, there is no question of promoting SSLC and second PU students to the next class on the model of seventh, eighth and ninth standard students," clarified state primary and secondary education minister Suresh Kumar.

He was speaking at the 'Hello Minister - kick out Corona' programme telecast by a Kannada news channel on Monday. He said that the revision classes are being held with the intention that the students do not go out of the examination mood. He said that already guidance is being provided to the students by teachers through WhatsApp.

"After April 14, dates of SSLC and second PU examination would be announced. I have noticed that some social websites are spreading rumours that SSLC and second PU students will be promoted like the high school students but no such thing will happen," he clarified.

Kumar noted that people are not taking lockdown seriously and not maintaining social distancing. He said that lockdown can be vacated faster if the people cooperate and behave responsibly. A clear picture about what will happen after April14 will emerge by April 12 or 13, he stated.

Kumar said that schools cannot collect fee from parents as they are in holiday period. "If they have collected fee or adjust it for next academic year, criminal case would be filed. The chief minster will soon announce the government's decision on RTE fee release," he added.

The minister requested Muslim leaders to find out those who returned to Karnataka after taking part in Tablighi religious convention at Delhi. He said that there is a need to create awareness about incidents like attacking Asha workers who visited areas for collecting details, behaving in a weird manner in hospitals, etc. He said that 18 out of 300 who had taken part in Tablighi Jamaat had tested positive. The final figure will be made known after the deputy commissioner scrutinises the same, he explained.

I am a student from the north east, who had to leave Bangalore in a commotion and hurry before the lockdown began. There is no direct flight from my state, just to go to the nearest airport I have to travel to another state (west bengal) in car for 4.5 hours.

How can the government ask me to come back for examinations in such uncertain and dangerous times? Me and many other students stranded here are very worried for our exams, if the government of Karnataka doesn't care for outstation students, what is there we can do? My parents won't allow me to risk my health just for some exams (that happen every year). I think the authority should really mull over the matter before issuing statements that give us stranded outside little heart attacks. Please think for all, not just the majority.

    Hello sir,
Im a second puc student from kodagu
We have struggled alot since first puc to face the second puc public examination. Whatever happens, even though the lockdown extends, please dont cancel our exam sir. We are ready to write the exam.
If it is not possible to conduct exams in various exam centres, it could be done in the own colleges of the students itself..

Respected sir, I would like to request you to promote all CBSE ,SSLC, PU students because this pandamic is serious and all parents are worried about their children's health. No parent would have asked for this if this wasn't a serious issue. Please sir, promote students based on their last year's performance with consultation of the teachers and principal. I hope that you would certainly look into the matter once again. Thank you.

    Respected sir,
Regarding the fast spreading pandemic in india particularly in karnataka ,it would not be right for the students to come out of their homes during the lockdown relaxation period I.e from 15 april to 19 april. As large number of students arrive at their examination centres to write their exams, there are large chances of one getting infected,in fact everyone can get infected as social distancing is not maintained. We can opt other alternatives such as conducting the exam online or evaluating the marks depending on their second preparatory marks. The second pic students are left with only one subject which is english , wouldn't it be possible to evaluate according to their second preparatory marks. The exams for sslc students can be conducted when the situation comes under control but for the second pic students who are left with only one subject any alternative may be opted.
    Thank you.

Others are not students? Their lives are not precious? How much you think about the career and lives of tenth standard students, there are so many parents who want their children too to be safe and healthy. No one wants to take risk. So many years students were not attending the classes? They were answering the exams systematically. If they dont write one exam what happens ? Please promote all the students whose exams come under the months of april/May/June....todays children tomorrow's nation...This pandemic is such no one can avoid it...one infected person is sufficient to spread all over as it is asymptomatic...God bless all our students...

Respected Honourable minister of education With due respect to you I, request your good office to call off all the main exams pertaining to SSLC,PUC & the degree university exams owing to the unfavourable pandemic confronting the whole world in general and Karnataka in particular. While we are already observing a lockdown in the interest of the public. Keeping board exams that to after a lapse of a fortnight would only cause unnecessary panic to the children whose immune system is quite low.Secondly , while looking at major institutions where there are students from other states of India studying in various v schools and colleges of Bangalore & Mangalore would create more spread of the virus. Therefore I, request the general public & the parents whose children are studying these courses to make an appeal to the Honourable education minister requesting a cancellation of these exams in the interest of our children & the community at large. Thanks.

With the rapid spread of this deadly Coronavirus spread all over the world and its impact on the lives of human beings and animals May I,request the honourable minister of Education to look into the present catorscope of the virus and its Impact on the students who will be exposed outside to the heat and virus which may cause many health hazards. As most of the students may have already forgotten the subject matter studied , Conducting an exam in a unhealthy situation doesn't seem irrelevant. Better grade the Mark's on the aggregate. After all life matters first
Being a global calamity I,hope our honourable minister will see to this serseriously.

Exams before the under-graduate level are a meaningless, outdated, 200-year-old tradition.

If people are going for higher education, there should be ENTRANCE exams to select fewer applicants...

EXIT exams have long outlived their purpose.

Its easy for you to say. So many colleges haven't finished their portion, some haven't even completed their internals so if the semester exam is to be conducted, the portion must be completed, the internals must be taken, practical exams need to be conducted then the main exam can be taken. To take care of all this definitely there will be delays in starting the next academic year and god knows when the delays will be managed. There are so many students coming from Kerala, the North Eastern states etc, how are they expected to travel at a time like this? How can they be excluded? Till when can anyone wait? For the sake of one exam, must set schedules and plans set for a particular year be derailed?

    Nead of the hour...
Exams after complete eradication of COVID 19 from the world...
Life is bigger than the exams...encourage distant education and online examination system..
If possible change entire educational system...practical knowledge is better than the theory...
Think... don't risk any students life at the cost of exams..
