Mangaluru, Apr 5: Though it was published in a section of the media that payment of electricity bill had been deferred for a period of three months (till June 2020) there is no clarification in this regard from the union ministry of power to the state governments or companies supplying electricity. Therefore, Mescom has asked its customers to pay their bills on time.
Mescom has also given details of monthly meter reading and how the bill distribution can be handled. Mescom is supplying 24x7 power for people to carry out their office related work from their homes. A statement by Mescom says that it has taken steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity during the lockdown period as all people will be at home.
Mescom says that all customers will be sent bills based on average or last month's bill amount. For customers whose data is already with Mescom, the bill will be sent via email, SMS or WhatsApp. Other customers, whose details are not registered online, need to call helpline number 1912 and give their account ID and mobile number. The bill will be sent to them either by email, SMS or WhatsApp. The customers can also avail the bill details by registering on Mescom website www.mesco.in. In addition, the bill can also be obtained by contacting the sub-divisional office of Mescom. The contact details of subdivision are available on website of Mescom.
Customers of urban areas can pay bill by logging on to www.mescom.org.in and viewing their bill. Payment can be made through debit card, credit card, internet banking or through UPI. Customers can opt for 'Quick Payment' and pay the bill amount without registering also. In addition, the urban customers can pay the bills through Paytm or through Karnataka mobile one application from their credit card, debit card or internet banking.
Customers of rural areas have to log on to www.mescomtrm.com and view the bill. They can pay the bill without registering through the 'Quick Payment' option. In addition, all cash counters of sub-division will function with all safety precautions of Covid-19.
If any customer/s cannot pay the bill due to unavoidable circumstances, such customers should submit an appeal to the sub-divisional officer of Mescom. Appeals will be looked into on priority basis. From May 1, the regular meter reading and distribution will be carried out. any differences in actual usage and meter reading will be adjusted in subsequent bills, said Mescom.
