Mangaluru, Apr 1: One positive coronavirus case was reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and none in Udupi district on Wednesday, April 1.
The one tested positive is from Puttur taluk. The 49-year-old came from Dubai on March 20 to Bengaluru. He travelled in a taxi from Bengaluru to Puttur. He was admitted to Puttur general hospital on March 28 as he was suffering from sore throat. His swab samples were sent for test. The report was received on Wednesday in which he was tested positive.
On April 1, 53 people were screened and as of date a total of 38,373 people are screened in the district. As of date, 5,875 are under home quarantine. There are no people currently under quarantine in Wenlock Hospital. In ESI Hospital, 27 are under quarantine.
As many as 300 people completed their 28 day mandatory home quarantine period. As many as 17 samples were sent for test. Results of 17 samples were received on Wednesday of which 16 emerged negative and one tested positive. As many as 27 have been admitted to be kept under observation.
In Udupi, none were tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. TMA Pai COVID Hospital started functioning. All three positive tested patients at KMC have been shifted to TMA Pai COVID Hospital. The COVID Hospital will be a treatment facility which exclusively for positive cases. There will not be any access to general public. Walk in suspects or patients will not be taken in TMA Pai COVID Hospital. Only positive cases shifted from the existing suspect isolation facilities will be entertained.
All 75 high risk and 91 low risk contacts were shifted to institutional quarantine facilities. These contacts include those who are contacts of positive cases and those who have travelled in hot spots.
As many as 83 completed the 14 days and 15 completed the 28 days mandatory home quarantine on Wednesday. Thirteen have been admitted to isolation ward and 11 have been discharged.
Kasargod
In Kerala, 24 new cases were reported on Wednesday. Kasargod had 12 cases, Ernakulam three cases, Malappuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur and Thrissur two cases each and Palakkad reported one case.
