Bantwal, Apr 1: Many rely on social websites to spend spare time. There are some who use TikTok app for creating entertaining video clips. But a family from the taluk has been using this app for spreading awareness about coronavirus. The uniqueness of the family's intentions to spread knowledge is gaining people's attention.
The family lives at Sankesha in Mameshwara, Anantady village in the taluk. A young member of the family, Dhanraj Achar, is employed in a TV channel at Bengaluru. On account of Coronavirus lockdown, he has come home to spend holidays. He has been making TikTok videos which educate people about coronavirus. These clips have won many hearts and lots of appreciation in the social media.
In one of the video clips, lovers shout about presence of coronavirus in a park to scare people away. The people rush out of the park, but police arrest the lovers and confine them in lock-up for spreading false information.
A woman who is listening to the Prime Minister's address in which he is heard telling people to stay home as corona demons are waiting outside to harm the people, is made to cross the self-imposed confinement by corona demons who entice her with offer of vegetables. But when going out, she follows health department instructions with mask and hands cleaned with sanitizer. The demons flee from there. This clip also gives out a convincing message of awareness.
Son tells his mother that he would go out of his home in spite of lockdown order. He get support of sister. The sister says he would be able to eat something if he goes out. The man goes out, but gets beaten black and blue by the police and returns. The mother who understands the real meaning of her daughter's words, 'eating outside', and smiles.
Before the advent of coronavirus, the youth tethers the pet dog inside this house and he used to play at various places. After coronavirus spreads, he is seen always sitting inside home, and the dog is seen playing outside. This shows the current social status of the people.
Several other videos which convey the message to stay home, follow lockdown rules and to take precautions against coronavirus, also attract attention.
Dhanraj, who holds degree in journalism, was in Rangayana Mysuru where he got training in acting. He is employed in Udaya TV. His videos involving his friends at Bengaluru have gained attention. TikTok scenes he has created about government houses at Ombattukere Ullal, electricity problem in Sullia etc have succeeded in awakening the authorities.
