Bengaluru, Mar 31: First information report has been registered in Yelahanka police station here against a person who falsely spread the information in social website, claiming that a person named by him has been infected with coronavirus.
The mischief monger, identified as Amar Nath, happens to be the husband of Padmavathi, corporator of Chowdeshwari Ward of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. He has been arrested. His act gains all the more serious because it has happened at a time when the entire nation is going through difficult times, fighting against the spread of the disease.
It is said that Amar Nath had indulged in mischiefs and was caught off guard a number of times when he was the councillor of Yelahanka municipality in the past. Daily wage workers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, who were fear-stricken at the information conveyed by Amar Nath, had deserted their homes and arrived at Kogilu Cross bus stand at Yelahanka in droves to go back to their hometowns. The police who observed them got curious and questioned them. They got to know that fake message sent by Amar Nath had caused upheaval in their lives.
Yelahanka police, who have registered case against Amar Nath for spreading fake news, have booked him under sections 153,188 and 504 of Indian Penal Code. They are investigating the matter further.
